Congresswomen Karen Bass Launches Voter Engagement                                 ...3 of 3 >
March 12, 2022 - After introductory remarks by Annetta Wells, Donna Manzanares Otero and Dee Manzanares Ybarra presented an indigeneous perspective and asked for a blessing from Creator. The two are sisters; their parents were from the Rumson Ohlone and Kizh Gabreleno tribes and Manzanares Ybarra is tribal chairperson of the Rumson Ohlone.
Leading the progam were Annetta Wells, statewide deputy political director for SEIU 2015 ("California's Caregivers Union") and Ernesto Rocha, a community organizer.  SEIU has endorsed Bass (>).

The phone script reads:
My name is ___ and I'm volunteering to elect Karen Bass for Mayor.

I'm voting for Karen Bass because she has the right experience to lead decisively and with compassion. She spent her entire life fighting injustice as a community organizer, Assemblymemeber and now a leader in Congress.

Karen Bass believes that Los Angeles can be a city where all people have access to quality health care, affordable housing for their families, get paid a livable wage and grow our strong economy. She will expand services and resources to help get folks who may have stumbled, back on their feet. This includes mental health and substance abuse treatment, job training and employment services, transitioning more residents from our streets into housing. Karen Bass is the only candidate with the right experience to bring Angelenos together to confront this crisis and its root causes.
