GOV. BILL WELD ANNOUNCES NEW HAMPSHIRE CAMPAIGN LEADERSHIP

Sept. 10, 2019, Concord NH -- Former Massachusetts Governor and 2020 presidential candidate Bill Weld announced his campaign’s New Hampshire leadership at a news conference Tuesday in the New Hampshire State House in Concord.

 

Weld announced that his Granite State campaign will be led by Chairman Peter Spaulding and Co-Chairs Claira Monier and Betty Tamposi.

 

Spaulding, a well-known New Hampshire Republican leader, served in similar capacities in the 2000 and 2008 McCain presidential campaigns. Monier served as President Reagan’s appointee to Region One: Department of Health and Human services and advised on Presidents George HW and George W Bush, along with the Dole, Romney, and Santorum presidential campaigns. Tamposi, a longtime Republican Activist, advised on the presidential campaigns of Reagan and George HW Bush and served as an Assistant Secretary in the US State Department under George HW Bush.

 

In addition to the state-wide leaders, Gov. Weld introduced a steering committee of leaders and activists from across New Hampshire who will work to take the campaign to every county and town in the state.

 

Announcing the New Hampshire leadership, Gov. Weld said, “New Hampshire voters take their first-in-the-nation role very seriously, and we have made no secret of the fact that our campaign is focusing aggressively on the Granite State. I am gratified and proud to have such a distinguished and respected group of Republicans join our effort to reach every New Hampshire voter who can participate in the primary and give voice to the state’s honored tradition of independence.”

 

The state-wide Steering Committee announced Tuesday includes:

 

Brad Cook: Brad is an Attorney and shareholder at Sheehan Phinney and is the head of the firm’s Estate Planning and Probate, Government Relations and Not-for-Profit, Charitable and Religious Institutions Practice Groups. He is a past President of the firm and has practiced with Sheehan Phinney since 1973. He writes a regular column, “Cook on Concord,” which appears in the New Hampshire Business Review.

 

Jim Floyd: Jim is a community member in Sanborton, NH. He is an experienced producer, writer, and director for Thelma Productions.   

 

Ellen Garvey: Ellen is a resident of Newcastle, NH. She is currently a Senior Captain, flying 787s for American Airlines. Before becoming a commercial pilot, she flew for eight years in the New Hampshire Air National Guard. 

 

Christina Goodlander: Christina was born and raised in Nashua and is a longtime Republican activist. She previously served as Chair of the International Committee of the Young Republican National Federation, where she managed relationships between the GOP and other conservative parties around the world. She is co-Founder and Director of The Candidate, a nonprofit that works to advance women in politics around the world. 

 

Amy Jenkins: Amy is a former Director of Human Resources for Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH. Amy supported both the Reagan and Romney presidential campaigns in their respective years. 

 

Thom Lavoie: Thom is a former Manchester, NH Rotary Club President and a current Manchester Community businessman with Clark Insurance. He is also an active member of the greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

 

Walter Milne: Walter is a longtime Republican supporter. He is currently the Treasurer for the Town of Auburn, NH. He has worked many years in NH banking and is a community leader in the Manchester Rotary Club.

 

Marie Monier: Marie is a longtime Lakes Region resident and former insurance agency administrator. Marie has worked on the state senate campaign for Bob Monier.      

 

Toni Pappas: Toni is a long time County Commissioner for Hillsborough County and a Senior Account Executive at Business NH Magazine. Toni has worked and advised on an array of Presidential campaigns including Reagan, Bush, Dole, Romney, and Christie here in the Granite state.   

 

Peter Rice: Peter is a resident of New Castle, NH and is a lifelong Republican supporter and restaurant entrepreneur, best known for the Dolphin Striker in Portsmouth, NH. Peter is highly involved in the greater NH Seacoast community supporting many different causes across the region.      

 

Martin Skold: Martin is a former Counterterrorism Analyst for the Department of Defense and a former National Security Legislative Assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where his thesis focused on great power competition. His work has been published in several online and academic international affairs journals. Though not from New Hampshire, he is very glad he married someone who is. 

 

Richard Slingsby: Richard is a longtime Manchester, NH community member and businessman. He is the owner/operator of Hampshire Pump & Equipment, LLC and the Slingsby Group, Inc. 

 

Jim Stap: Jim is a resident of Windham, NH and is an employee of the Oracle Corporation. He and his wife Kerry Stap have hosted Governor Weld on multiple occasions.  

 

Kerry Stap: Kerry is a longtime resident of Windham, NH. She is a Branch Manager for Citizens Bank in Hudson, NH. She and her Husband Jim Stap have hosted Governor Weld on multiple occasions. 

 

Janet Stevens: Janet serves as an appointee of Gov. Chris Sununu on the Board of Mental Health Practice and Seacoast Cancer Cluster Commission. Janet was on former Ohio Gov. John Kasich's NH delegate slate for the 2016 presidential election.

 

Nick Tamposi: Nick is a resident of Laconia, NH and is a retired real estate executive. Nick spends much of his time supporting a number of philanthropic causes across the Granite state.
