Presidential Ad Spending in Nevada
Spending on Presidential Advertising in Nevada, May 1-Nov. 3, 2020
Total $35.4 million
Summary: Over the six
months, Biden and
allies outspent Trump
and allies
in Nevada by more than 3 to 1, $27.3 million to $8.1
million.
The difference in
ad spending by outside groups was particularly
striking; Biden allies, mainly Future Forward ($9.4
million), outspent Trump allies by more than 11 to
1. More than half of ad spending came in the
last month of the campaign. To put total spending
in context, dividing
the $35.4 million total ad spending by six electoral
votes gives a figure of $5.90 million per electoral
vote; Biden and allies
spent $4.55 million and Trump and allies $1.35
million per electoral vote. Dividing
by
1,405,376 votes tallied in the presidential race in
Nevada gives a figure of $25.18 per vote;
Biden and allies spent
$38.81 per Biden vote and Trump and allies spent
$12.07 per Trump vote.
These data cover spending on advertising on electronic media (broadcast, cable, radio, digital and satellite) but do not include other types of paid media such as billboards, print advertising and persuasion mail.
Data on this page do not show "independent" ads which account for a tiny amount of spending (less than 0.1%). "Independent" ads includes ads from third party presidential candidates and other small mostly digital buys from various groups.
Also note that groups such as The Lincoln Project and Republican Voters Against Trump, although organized by Republicans and thus nominally Republican, are included under Democrat (Biden/Allies) spending since their purpose was to attack Trump.
