Mike Bloomberg today announced $40 million in TV ads running statewide through Election Day across Florida markets. Independence USA’s ads, beginning Tuesday, September 29, are geared towards both persuasion and mobilization in support of Vice President Joe Biden in defeating Donald Trump. 

“This fall, the path to the presidency goes through Florida – and with mail-in ballots going out this week, voters will soon start deciding who gets its 29 electoral votes,” said Mike Bloomberg. “That’s why we’re doing everything in our power to tell the story of Donald Trump’s failed presidency and why we need Joe Biden as the next president of the United States. While more than 200,000 Americans have died from the COVID-19 pandemic under Donald Trump’s watch and millions have been infected, this new ad, “Supreme Court ACA ,” outlines the real-life impact Trump will have on Floridians if he is able to repeal the Affordable Care Act through a Supreme Court vacancy.

As COVID-19 Surges in Florida, Independence USA PAC Airs New Ad on Trump’s Failed and Dangerous Leadership

New Spot Picture ” Will Air Across All Florida Markets, As Florida Sees Large Spike in COVID-19 Cases and Deaths

Mike Bloomberg’s Independence USA PAC began airing a new ad, “Picture ,” showcasing Trump’s failed leadership and irresponsible behavior as president during the COVID-19 pandemic. The TV ad will run statewide on broadcast and cable.

In the last 24-hours alone, it’s been revealed that more than 360 primary and secondary schools in South Florida have had confirmed COVID-19 cases since September, and 84 more Floridians died and 3,662 tested positive on Tuesday for COVID-19. That totals 760,389 Floridians who have contracted COVID-19, and 16,105 Floridians who have died from it. Nearly 1 in 28 Floridians have now been infected, higher than the national average of nearly 1 in 40. All while testing has decreased statewide and the government considers no longer telling the public its daily numbers. 

As President Trump puts his re-election ahead of the health of the American people, it’s clear that the results have been disastrous. With over 218,000 COVID-19 deaths in the United States, the new ad, “Picture ,” highlights Trump’s reluctance to listen to health experts and his destructive behavior.

Quoting Trump’s own words discrediting the efficacy of masks and lack of concern for the virus’ spread in the White House, the ad also says: “Irresponsible behavior starts at the top. 218,000 dead, 8 million infections and Trump ignores health experts.”

New Spanish Language Spot “Deported ” will Air in the Miami Market

Today, Mike Bloomberg’s Independence USA PAC began airing a new Spanish language ad, “Deported ,” highlighting the Trump administration’s secret deportations of innocent Venezuelans.

The TV ad will run in the Miami market on broadcast and cable through Election Day.

In his letter to the State Department last Friday , Senator Bob Menendez wrote “new documents provided to my office confirm that U.S. deportations to Venezuela continued via third countries at least until March 2020.” The letter also notes that the act of deporting asylum seekers and refugees through a third country is a potential violation of U.S. laws.

Using images of Venezuelans in empty super markets and violence on their streets, the new ad, “Deported ,” showcases Trump’s cruelty and lack of empathy towards Venezuelan immigrants in the U.S. “Under Nicolás Maduro, the people of Venezuela are suffering,” the ad says. “And what has Trump done? Deportations and blocked the temporary protection status.”

This week, Mike Bloomberg’s Independence USA PAC began airing a new Spanish-language ad, "Ellos Lo Son ," featuring Cuban-born anti-Communist author and journalist Carlos Alberto Montaner. The TV ad will run in the Miami Market on broadcast and cable. The PAC also has a Fox News specific buy in Miami for “Ellos Lo Son ” and previously aired “Somos Patriotas ,” including English subtitles.

Tomorrow, Mike Bloomberg’s Independence USA PAC will begin airing a new ad, “Obama ,” calling on voters in Miami to vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Drawing from his recent remarks at a drive-in rally in Miami, the ad shares President Barack Obama’s message that Joe Biden has the “character and experience to make us a better country.”

While voting is up across Florida, in Miami-Dade County voter turnout is not as high as expected. In an effort to increase voter turnout in Miami, in particular among young voters, Black voters, and low-frequency Democratic voters, Independence USA PAC is airing this :30 second ad tomorrow through Election Day in the Miami market.

Using footage from his recent rally in Miami, the ad quotes President Obama who says:

NEW YORK — Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund announced a $5 million digital ad program for Florida focused on supporting Vice President Joe Biden for President and flipping seats in the Florida state House, and reserved digital ad space to reach thousands of voters through the November election. The investment is Everytown’s largest digital ad program to date in Florida, and focuses on streaming platforms targeted to reach voters who are spending more time at home, on their phones, and outside the reach of traditional cable media.

“Gun safety has gone from a political third rail to the first thing many voters think about when they step into the voting booth,” said John Feinblatt, head of Everytown. “Everytown is going all-in to make sure voters in battleground states know exactly where the candidates stand on this life-or-death issue.”

“We are making unprecedented early reservations securing critical inventory across premium digital channels and platforms to better engage, persuade, and mobilize voters,” said Charlie Kelly, senior political advisor to Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund. “As we head into the final stretch to November, this investment will allow us to meet voters where they are — and we’re going there earlier and better than our opponents.”

“Voters in Florida know the pain of gun violence all too well,” said Jenna Preble, volunteer with the Florida chapter of Moms Demand Action, Everytown’s grassroots volunteer network. “We want to make sure they also know that President Trump has chosen the gun lobby over American lives every single time. This ad program, combined with our grassroots organizing, will be a catalyst for gun sense voters across the state.”

A recent survey of voters in 13 battleground states including Florida showed that gun safety-themed messages were among the most impactful at moving voters’ support to Joe Biden, and that messaging focused on the impacts of COVID-19 on America’s gun violence crisis was the second most effective overall at shifting support to Biden.

COVID-19 has accelerated America’s trend towards digital platforms. OTT platforms are seeing a higher increase in viewing hours during COVID-19 than traditional linear TV. Now, 50% of total TV hours are streaming, audio listening has grown by 42%, and connected TV usage has grown by 46%. Today’s announcement is the largest political reservation on streaming platforms to date.

Everytown is employing a digital-first approach that reflects the rapidly shifting habits of the American electorate, investing in streaming video and 1:1 targeting, balancing high-quality premium inventory with a 15x-18x per week ad frequency.

Platforms include Hulu, Pandora, YouTube, Roku, and Univision, with 11% Spanish language inventory across the pan.

Ads will be a mix of persuasion and mobilization, will largely target suburban parents, young voters, and people of color, and will include Spanish-language creative.

Everytown Victory Fund Will Spend $6 Million to Run TV Ads in Orlando and Tampa Media Markets, With Digital Ads Running Statewide

The ads also highlight Trump siding with the gun lobby after receiving more than $31 million in political support from the NRA in 2016, and opposing common-sense gun safety laws after mass shootings in Parkland and in El Paso. Part of a $6 million ad buy, the ads are Everytown’s first presidential TV ads of the cycle and will run in Tampa and Orlando and on digital platforms statewide.

“President Trump’s utter failure to address gun violence and COVID-19, which are two of the most urgent public health emergencies facing our nation, has been felt especially hard in Florida,” said John Feinblatt, head of Everytown Victory Fund. “In the run-up to Election Day, Everytown is going all out to remind voters that President Trump has consistently put the interests of the gun lobby ahead of the safety of the American people.”

Everytown partnered with Priorities USA Action to produce the ads, which represent Everytown’s first major ad buy in Florida this cycle and first major ad buy in the presidential campaign. The advertising campaign includes $4 million in television ads, which will run in the Orlando and Tampa media markets, and $2 million in digital ads, which will run statewide. 

A May survey of voters in 13 battleground states including Florida showed that gun safety-themed messages were among the most impactful at moving voters’ support to Joe Biden, and that messaging focused on the impacts of COVID-19 on America’s gun violence crisis was the second most effective overall at shifting support to Biden. Recent polling shows Latino voters in Florida consider opposition to background checks on all gun sales to be the most disqualifying position a candidate can take.  

This year, Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund will spend $60 million on the 2020 elections, doubling what they spent during the 2020 elections.
