ELIZABETH'S STORY

Elizabeth grew up on the ragged edge of the middle class in Oklahoma. While her three brothers served in the military, Elizabeth's ticket to a better life was a college scholarship. But like many Americans, her path wasn't a straight line—she dropped out of college at age 19, got married, and then continued her education thanks to a college that cost $50 a semester.

Elizabeth started her career as a special education teacher at a public elementary school before going to a public law school and becoming one of the country's top bankruptcy experts. Elizabeth has spent her whole career getting to the bottom of why the path to economic security has gotten so much tougher for working families.

ELIZABETH IS THE DAUGHTER OF A JANITOR, WHO HAD THE CHANCE TO BECOME A TEACHER, A LAW PROFESSOR, A U.S. SENATOR, AND A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE —ALL BECAUSE AMERICA INVESTED IN HER.

After Wall Street crashed our economy in 2008, President Obama asked Elizabeth to confront the broken system head on. She created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to hold big banks accountable, and the agency has since returned over $12 billion to consumers cheated by predatory lenders. 

Running for office was never Elizabeth's plan, but she joined the fight in Washington as a Senator—and now she's running for President to root out corruption and fight to build an America that works for everyone, not just the wealthy and the well-connected. Elizabeth knows what's wrong. She knows how to fix it. And she'II fight to get it done.

MAKE THE RICH PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE
Elizabeth's Ultra-Millionaire Tax asks the richest 75,000 American families to pitch in two cents on every dollar of net worth over $50 million and six cents on every dollar of net worth over $1 billion. This small tax would pay for universal free college and technical school, universal child care, student loan debt cancellation for 95% of people who have it, and help finance Medicare for AII.
