REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE MARK SANFORD
HITS CAMPAIGN TRAIL PASSING OUT ONE TRILLION DOLLAR “BILLS”
SOUNDS ALARM ON RECORD BREAKING DEFICIT, RAPIDLY RISING DEBT

MANCHESTER, NH (NOV. 7, 2019): Republican Presidential candidate and former South Carolina Governor and U.S. Representative Mark Sanford knows a thing or two about passing bills in Congress and in the state government he once led. Now he’s passing one trillion dollar “bills” out to voters on the campaign trail to drive attention to our country’s record-breaking $23 trillion deficit, rapidly rising debt and out-of-control government spending.

“Never before in our country’s history have we run trillion dollar deficits in peacetime, much less in good economic times. Our national debt climbs $100 million an hour – that’s $30,000 a second. These staggering numbers are leading us to the most predictable financial crisis in history, and when the crisis comes it will disrupt and ruin lives. Equally disturbing is that no one on the Presidential campaign trail is talking about it,” commented Governor Sanford.

Sanford’s one trillion dollar “bills” are meant to serve as an engagement tool to get voters talking and thinking about where we are as a nation and where we are going. Sanford’s play money has a “22” on it representing our country’s $22 trillion deficit; only the day after its printing the national debt is now $23 trillion.

“Washington hands out money all the time, spending is out-of-control and our government is playing with money they don’t have. In three years we will spend more on interest to service the national debt than on our national defense. In just one year we will spend more on interest than on all programs benefiting children.”

“In 2016 President Trump, the self-proclaimed “King of Debt” promised, that if elected, he would eliminate the debt in eight years. Well, he lied to us. The debt has risen faster than ever before. His financial recklessness will destroy our country and dissolve our children’s hope of attaining the American dream.” Sanford continued.
