"Our sense of community is fracturing across our nation right now, worn down by the petty and vicioius nature of our politics. We are all tired of the shutdowns and the showdowns, the gridlock and the grandstanding.

Today we say enough is enough."

Amy Klobuchar

Amy Klobuchar's grandpa worked 1,500 feet underground in the mines and saved money in a coffee can to send Amy's dad to college.

Amy's dad worked as a newspaperman and her mom was a proud union member who taught second grade until she was 70 years old.

Amy got her start in politics when her daughter Abigail was born and Amy was kicked out of the hospital after 24 hours, even though Abigail was really sick. Amy went to the legislature, as a mom, to pass one of the nation's first state laws guaranteeing new moms and their babies a 48-hour hospital stay. This guarantee became federal law in 1996.

All her life, Amy has taken on big challenges, told people what she thinks and gotten things done.

In the first 100 days of the Klobuchar administration, Amy will look you in the eye, tell you what she thinks and get big things done.

1. lf you work hard in America, you should be able to make it in this country. But that's not the case for too many Americans. Amy would introduce legislation to close those tax loopholes designed by and for the wealthy, raise the mínimum wage to $15 and make it easier for people
to afford child care, housing and education.

2. As President, Amy will make sure America rejoins the lnternational Climate Change Agreement on Day One. And on days two and three, Amy will reinstate the Clean Power Plan and bring back gas mileage standards, because we must act to address the climate crisis NOW.

3. Amy will work to get to universal health care and lower costs by fighting for  a public option through Medicare or Medicaid. She  will tackle skyrocketing drug prices by working to lift the ban on Medicare negotiation, immediately allowing for the importation of sale, less expensive prescription drugs from countties like Canada, and taking on pharmaceutical company practices of blocking less-expensive generics.

4. Amy was the first presidential candidate to introduce a comprehensive mental health and addiction plan, paid for in part by taxing the drug manufacturers that created the opioid epidemic in the first place.

5. Amy will work to change our antitrust laws and stand up to corporate consolidation and monopoly power, including big businesses that reduce competition, hurt consumers and drive up prices for families.

7. Amy has a bold plan to invest $1 trillion to rebuild America's crumbling infrastructure. When people in places like Flint, Michigan can't drink their tap water, or flood waters wash away thousands of homes, businesses and farms in Nebraska and lowa, or bridges like the l-35W bridge fall into the Mississippi, you know our crumbling infrastructure is in crisis.

Amy's plan will rebuild America's cities, where communities of color have been scarred by decades of disinvestment. And in rural areas, Amy will make sure everyone is connected to high-speed broadband Internet by 2022.
