•  First female combat veteran to run for president.

•  Has served for over six years on the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Armed Services Committee where she's been intimately involved with sensitive national security issues.

•  In 2004, she stepped away from her position as a State Representative when she volunteered to deploy to Iraq with the Army National Guard where she served in a medical unit.

•  Served two tours of duty in the Middle East and is currently a Major in the Army National Guard where she has served for 16 years.
