PETE BUTTIGIEG
is an Afghanistan veteran and a Midwesterner, and served as the mayor of his hometown of South Bend, Indiana.

Pete is running for president because this is a now or never moment for our nation. From stagnant wages to climate change, from rising health care costs to an epidemic of gun violence, we are facing urgent national crises—yet Washington politicians have failed to act. We need a president who can heal our country, restore decency and respect to public life, and confront our nation's challenges.

After leading his hometown of South Bend, Indiana for eight years, Pete knows good politics is based in helping people, not in advancing an ideological agenda.

As president, Pete will bring a new kind of politics to Washington—one that will rally Americans together behind bold ideas so we can finally solve our greatest problems like ensuring universal access to health coverage, raising wages, and addressing the climate crisis.

Pete will achieve universal access to health care while providing Americans the freedom to choose the best plan for themselves and their families through Medicare for AII Who Want lt. He will rebalance our economy so it works for all Americans by raising wages, strengthening unions, providing free college to those who need it most, and creating opportunities—not barriers—for people who don't go to college. And Pete will enlist every American to be part of a national effort to finally confront climate change—and usher our country into a new era of climate action.

On day one, Pete will be a president ready to pick up the pieces of our divided nation, gather up an American·majority that is hungry for change, and act to ensure that our future is better than our past.
