If you're concerned about climate change, Amy Klobuchar is not your candidate!

Amy Klobuchar parrots the correct sound bites. But after extensive questioning by Bold Iowa's bird dogs, it's clear her allegiance is to Big Oil, not to climate action.

Here's what Klobuchar said to us in Iowa Falls last May:
"We need to greatly reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, and eventually we won't need these pipelines if we do that in the right way  -- or we'll need them in a limited way. Because I think for quite a while we're going to see the use of gas and the use of oil, and so we're going to continue to have some of that going on for many years in the future." (emphasis added)

This is the most honest response we've had from Klobuchar. Usually, she dodges our questions about the Dakota Access Pipeline and Line 3 (the new oil pipeline proposed through northern Minnesota).

Bottom line is Klobuchar would continue to expand U.S. fossil-fuel infrastructure "many years in the future."

Here are other points to consider:
•    Of all the Democratic candidates running for president, Klobuchar is the only one we've spoken with who has NOT come out against Energy Transfer's proposal to double the flow of oil through the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL).
•    Klobuchar is one of only two 2020 presidential candidates to accept money from Line 3 project manager Robert Kratsch - a total of $5,600. The other candidate was Donald Trump. Under public pressure this summer, Klobuchar returned the money. But why did she accept it in the first place? And why would an oil executive who donated to President Trump find Klobuchar worthy of his largesse?
•    "Klobuchar does not yet support a ban on tracking or an end to fossil fuel exports, and has remained completely silent on the Line 3 tar sands pipeline." (Story published by Friends of the Earth, June 14, 2019)
•    In 2008, "Klobuchar joined a bipartisan group in the U.S. Senate to lift a moratorium on drilling in the Gulf and the Southeast as part of a larger energy package." (Article in The Star Tribune, May 11, 2011)

Despite what she might say, Klobuchar is no climate champion. Her track record shows a strong allegiance to the greedy corporations exacerbating the climate crisis even as science tells us we must move quickly and dramatically to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions.
