WOMEN for mike 2020 MIKE WILL GET IT DONE—FOR WOMEN As an entrepreneur, mayor and problem-solving philanthropist, Mike Bloomberg has taken on the toughest challenges. As president, Mike will continue to unite the country around a bold and achievable agenda that works for and benefits all women. MIKE BLOOMBERG POLICY PRIORITIES ENRICHING THE LIVES OF 20 MILLION WOMEN & GIRLS IN CALIFORNIA SUPPORTING WOMEN IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP Mike will ensure all entrepreneurs, particularly women, receive fair access to the support, capital and resources they need to succeed to boost more than 1.5M women-owned businesses that employ over 1M people in CA alone! As Mayor, Mike helped minority and women-owned businesses get certified to compete for city contracts, resulting in the award of $3.4 billion in contracts to certified firms. Under his leadership, the number of contracts awarded to women and minority-owned businesses increased by 70 percent. CLOSING THE GENDER INCOME GAP Mike will require employers to provide employees 12 weeks paid family leave, increase the minimum wage to $15/hour, protect overtime hours, and defend and expand the rights of all workers, especially women, from discrimination. Mike will get it done by requiring public companies to report on hiring, pay, and procurement by race and gender. EXPANDING HEALTH CARE TO MILLIONS OF WOMEN Mike's plan expands the Affordable Care Act and the access to dental, hearing, and vision coverage, and creates a permanent reinsurance program that lowers prescription drug costs and medical bills. MAGGIE BERRY, BLOOMBERG EMPLOYEE MAKING EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE ACCESSIBLE Mike's plan will help mothers enter the workforce by making quality child care more accessible and affordable. The proposal will also increase the Child Tax Credit to make it fully refundable, and phase it in faster, starting with the first dollar of earnings. As Mayor, Mike started the NYC Child Care Tax Credit to aid low-income families with childcare costs while enabling parents to maintain full-time jobs. Mike's initiative put nearly $100 million in the pockets of low-income New Yorkers in the first five years alone. INCREASING GUN SAFETY TO KEEP OUR FAMILIES SAFE Mike will create an effective national background check system, outlaw assault weapons. ban guns in schools, and hold the gun industry accountable for the violence claiming women and children's lives. MAKING COLLEGE AFFORDABLE Mike will make college affordable with tuition-free education at all public, two-year community and technical colleges. He will offer more federal funding to states, and provide incentives for schools to devote funds to help students find meaningful paid work experience and cover extra costs like books, food, and childcare. Mike's education plan will make tuition free for low-income students at four-year colleges and universities and highly affordable for the middle class. IMPROVING REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS AND MATERNAL HEALTH Mike will ensure women have the right and ability to access a legal, safe abortion, appoint judges who respect established legal precedent, and increase access to affordable birth control. Mike will protect and expand reproductive rights and improve maternal health and fight health disparities impacting women of color by addressing the racial bias among health care providers and standardize information collected about maternal health issues. CLEANING OUR AIR AND WATER An estimated 2.4 million Californians suffered from asthma, exacerbated by pollution. California is home to 10 of the 25 most ozone-polluted cities in the U.S. Additionally, over one million Californians lack access to clean drinking water. Mike's plan will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to strengthen health and safety protections. starting with those communities that have borne the worst impacts of pollution. Mike's plan will also prioritize investments in the hundreds of communities most at risk to natural disasters to ensure these areas are equipped to manage the effects of climate change, including flood-risk mitigation and wildfire resilience.
