RIGHTS FOR ALL
ACLU

Our next president must be committed to protecting and advancing civil liberties and civil rights for all. That's why we're asking candidates to commit to:

1. VOTING RIGHTS
Guarantee the rlght to vote for all Amerlcans age 18 and over, incarcerated and not incarcerated. Voting is a fundamental right, not a privilege, and people who have been convicted of crimes – including those who are currently incarcerated – should keep their right to vote. Studies have shown that when individua Is with criminal convictions participate in democracy, they have lower rates of subsequent arrests.

2. CRIMINAL JUSTICE
Confront the crisis of mass incarceratlon
that has hurt millions of people, especially Black people, by fighting to reduce incarceration levels by 50%. Our criminal justice system is broken and unjust, and we need to make it fairer for everyone by committing to a nationwide strategy to cut the prison and jail population in half, including at the state and local level.

3. IMMIGRANT JUSTICE
Overhaul our immigration system by creating new paths to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, reducing immigrant detention levels by 75% and ending the use of detainers. lmmigrants come here to build a better life for themselves and their families. We need to stop putting immigrants behind bars, tearing their families apart, and deporting them.

4. REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM
Lift the Hyde Amendment, which denies Medicaid coverage for abortion. Decisions to have an abortion are best made by the individuals and their doctor. Access to a safe, legal abortion should not be restricted based on where you live, your income, or what type of insurance you have. The Hyde Amendment, which bans abortion coverage under programs like Medicaid, is particularly harmful to low-income people, people of color, and
young people.

Make a Difference.

1. PLEDGE TO BE A RIGHTS FOR ALL VOTER
This is your chance to tell every candidate that you care about rights for all, you want to know the candidates' positions, and you will participate in the 2020 elections.

When we make this pledge together, it sends a clear and powerful signal to the whole field of candidates, no matter who you support.

2. HEAR DIRECTLY FROM CANDIDATES
Rights For All volunteers across the country are asking candidates of both parties about civil liberties issues and policies. Visit our candidate tracker, where you can search by candidate and issue, to learn more about the presidential candidates' positions and then share that information with your friends, family, and neighbors.

3. TAKE ACTION, EDUCATE VOTERS
Voters deserve to know the candidates' commitments to rights for all. That's why the ACLU has launched this campaign to get candidates on the record. As a Rights For All volunteer, you help cut through the clutter straight to what matters: the truth about what each candidate will do to protect and expand our rights. You can take action yourself, join a local
team, or start one in your area.
