ICYMI: United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Endorses Joe Biden

Today, United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), which represents 1.3 million professionals who work in health care, grocery stores, retail stores, and other industries, announced their endorsement of Joe Biden for President of the United States.

“At a time when UFCW members in healthcare, food retail, packing, and processing are on the front lines of the coronavirus outbreak, the vice president has again stood by our side by calling for paid leave and designating these brave workers as first responders,” said UFCW President Marc Perrone.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of the United Food and Commercial Workers and the more than one million workers they represent. In good times, UFCW workers are critical to keeping our families well-fed and well-supplied. And, in times of crisis like today, their dedication is literally fueling our effort to flatten the curve and slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Vice President Joe Biden. “Their employers and our entire country should rally around these workers and ensure they receive the benefits and protections they need - now and after this crisis has ended. I'm proud to have the support of UFCW workers as we work to win in November; reward work, not just wealth; and come together as Americans to get through this crisis.”

Local UFCW chapters from across the country have previously endorsed Biden, including those representing workers in Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Biden has also earned the support from scores of national unions, including the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF), International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), National Education Association (NEA), International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers (IW), Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), Operative Plasterers’ & Cement Masons’ International Association (OPCMIA), and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAW), International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), and the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA).
