EMILY’s List Endorses Elizabeth Warren for President

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Elizabeth Warren for President of the United States.

EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock said, “From the day I first sat across the table from her, discussing why she should run for Senate, I knew that Elizabeth Warren was exactly the kind of person we need in office. She has run her campaign the way she has governed: with a clear vision for how to build a better America, a plan to put power in the hands of the people, and a campaign that has stood up for and lived progressive values. As she often notes, she is running for president because that’s what girls do—and she has been an inspiration for women and girls across the country.”

“Elizabeth Warren is clearly the best candidate to unify the Democratic party after a long primary, generate excitement across the country, and take on Donald Trump. She is also a candidate not just ready to be president, but with the plans and vision to build an administration that looks out for all Americans.  We are proud to announce our support for her and will be working hard to help her win in the primary and in November.”

“In this historic cycle, when we’ve seen multiple pro-choice Democratic women on a debate stage and occupying the top tier of the race at the same time, we are grateful for the women who have run hard-fought races while facing down unfair questions of electability. They proved every day that presidential candidates do not fit in any one mold and especially in any one gender. We are proud to have stood with so many of them in their past races and look forward to being with them in the future.”

This is only the third endorsement EMILY’s List has made in a presidential primary, following endorsements of Hillary Clinton in the 2008 and 2016 primaries.

EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILY’s List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILY’s List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 50,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state and national offices.
