CASA in Action Endorses Joe Biden for President

Langley Park, MD – CASA in Action, the nation’s largest immigrant member-based voter organization, has voted to endorse Joe Biden for President. The organization’s decision rests on Biden’s support of offering protection to millions of undocumented immigrants, including immediate relief for TPS and DACA holders, and adopting dramatic reforms to the nation’s racist criminal justice system.

“Our community needs Joe Biden to serve as our champion in the White House, prioritizing policies that protect immigrants and working families,” said Yaheiry Mora, Executive Director of CASA in Action. “This is the most important election of our lifetime and CASA in Action has already begun knocking on doors and registering voters to ensure victory in November.”

CASA in Action has mobilized hundreds of thousands of Latinos and other voters of color to the polls through targeted data-driven electoral programs in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. During the 2018 midterm elections, CASA in Action conducted its largest electoral program to date, hiring over 200 staff and conducting simultaneous programming in eight counties in three states.

“I have spent my entire career fighting to lift up working people and use my voice to speak for those who weren’t able to speak for themselves,” said Joe Biden to CASA in Action leadership earlier this year. “Donald Trump’s presidency has been a disaster for all working people, and especially for people of color, immigrants, women, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities. But the problems these groups face were created over and have existed for generations. I am running to rebuild the middle class so that this time everyone comes along, no matter their race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or disability. Everyone means everyone.”
