FORMER CONGRESSMAN JOE WALSH (R-IL) LAUNCHES NEW GROUP AIMED AT DEFEATING TRUMP, CONGRESSIONAL REPUBLICANS

Continuing his commitment to defeating Donald Trump in November, former Congressman Joe Walsh announced the launch of The Bravery Project, on his radio program, “The Joe Walsh Show” Wednesday evening.

Stressing the existential threat a second Trump term poses to the country, Walsh implored his audience to personally commit to taking action in their own communities, beyond simply opposing Trump and the President’s Republican enablers at the ballot box. “This takes each and every one of us, getting out of our comfort zone, and doing something we’ve never done before: Campaign for Democrats.”

Building on an existing database of nearly 1,000,000 voters who were reached by Walsh’s primary challenge to Trump last fall, The Bravery Project will provide voters with digital-organizing resources, grassroots-organizing training, invitations to phone-bank and canvass, and other action-based opportunities to engage members of their communities across the country, with a particular focus on battleground states.

“When we looked around at the ecosystem of folks on our side working to defeat Donald Trump and his enablers, we saw a lot of great work being done in the media and ad space to prepare the ground ahead of November,” said Lucy Caldwell, Walsh’s former campaign manager and an advisor to The Bravery Project. “What we didn’t see were any groups giving disaffected Republicans and conservatives tangible opportunities to identify and recruit members of their own communities to personally join the fight. We intend to be that resource.”

The first of the Bravery Project’s online trainings will begin next week. The organization likewise expects to announce later this month its first wave of affiliate groups--truly grassroots-driven organizations at the local level whose work can be enhanced by a larger network of resources.

“We know that this election is going to be all-hands-on-deck, maybe coming down to just a handful of thousand votes in battleground states,” said Walsh. “We’ve got to do more than just hope ads and talking heads can put us over the top... we’ve got to get real voters out there, working to defeat Donald Trump.”

“It’s not enough to say, ‘I’m a Republican and I’m voting for Joe Biden,” Walsh added, “What are you going to do about it between now and November 3rd?”
