WRAPPING UP CONVENTION WEEKEND, MAYOR DE BLASIO RECEIVES ENDORSMENT FROM SOUTH CAROLINA MAYOR

At the end of South Carolina Democratic Party Convention weekend, Mayor de Blasio received an endorsement for President of the United States from Andrews, South Carolina Mayor Frank McClary. McClary is a retired Army colonel, who served for 29 years. MayorMcClary is the second Mayor in South Carolina to endorse Mayor de Blasio.

“As a former solider, I know firsthand the challenges our men and women in uniform face when they come home,” said Mayor Frank McClary. “I’m impressed by the work the Mayor and First Lady McCray are doing in New York City to provide wraparound services for our veterans, including mental health care. Mayor de Blasio has the experience to make these programs a reality across the entire country, which is why I’m proud to endorse him for President.”

“Mayor McClary is a patriot who has dedicated his life to serving his fellow Americans, and I’m so honored to have his support,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “As the child of a World War II veteran, I know how much war comes home with our soldiers and how difficult it is so navigate the bureaucratic maze that’s supposed to be helping them. That’s why in New York, we were the first city to create a Department of Veterans Services to provide the wraparound support our service members and their families deserve. As President, I’ll ensure that the government will serve those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us.”
