CNN 2020 CONVENTION COVERAGE

CNN will air special convention coverage from 8p-2amET for the duration of each four-day event: the DNC convention (August 17-20) and the RNC convention (August 24-27). 

Special coverage will be hosted by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Jake Tapper, Anderson Cooper, Dana Bash, and John King, as well as Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon joining the conversation from 12a-2aET. 

Jeff Zeleny, Arlette Saenz, Jessica Dean and MJ Lee will report on the Democratic National Convention. Jim Acosta, Kaitlan Collins, Ryan Nobles, and Jeff Zeleny will cover the Republican National Convention.

For both the Democratic National Convention and the Republican National Convention, reporting and analysis will be provided by CNN’s David ChalianGloria Borger, David Axelrod, Nia Malika Henderson, Abby Phillip and Mark Preston. 

CNN commentators for the Democratic National Convention include Van Jones, Jennifer Granholm, Andrew Yang, and Scott Jennings, who will join the conversation from CNN’s Election Center in Washington. CNN commentators for the Republican National Convention include Rick Santorum, Jennifer Granholm, David Urban and Amanda Carpenter.

In addition, CNN’s Daniel Dale will contribute real-time fact-checking throughout the evening and CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta will provide any updates regarding COVID-19.

Two new podcasts will debut from CNN Audio during the first week of the conventions, with CNN Political Briefing premiering on Monday, Aug. 17th featuring a new 5-minute daily politics brief hosted by David Chalian, and Politically Sound premiering on Friday, Aug. 21 as a weekly new flagship podcast hosted by Chalian and Nia-Malika Henderson. They will explain what the headlines actually mean and how we got here. The award-winning Axe Files with David Axelrod podcast will also feature convention programming and celebrate its 400th episode during the week of the DNC Convention.

CNN’s expert team of fact checkers will hold convention speakers and the campaigns accountable by pointing out what’s true and what’s not across all platforms and at CNN.com/FactsFirst.
