Matt Matern Responds to Walsh Withdrawal and Offers New Hampshire Voters a Choice in the FITN Republican Primary

MANCHESTER, NH: In response to events in the Republican party this week, Republican candidate for President Matt Matern issued the following statement:

"Earlier this week, we witnessed the inspiring example of a lone Republican Senator, Mitt Romney, demonstrating the moral courage to put country before party and stand up to a divisive and corrupt President. This morning, former Republican Representative Joe Walsh stopped campaigning before a single ballot was cast in the First in the Nation Primary in New Hampshire," Matern said. "But l'm not ready to give up the fight for the future of our nation and for the soul of the Party of Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan," Matern continued.

"I believe there are Republicans across New Hampshire and across the country, ready to join me in sending Donald Trump the crystal-clear message that enough is enough, we need a Republican president who respects and represents our party's values. That's why so many Republicans are supporting me in the February 11 primary."

"Donald Trump doesn't represent all Republicans, and he certainly doesn't represent New Hampshire values. l'm offering the voters of the Granite State the opportunity to say
'Enough is enough!' and l'm asking them to join me in sending a message with their vote on February 11th."

Matt Matern has been campaigning full-time in New Hampshire since launching his campaign in New Hampshire November 12, 2019. In addition to being on television, digital advertising, direct mail, paid canvassing efforts, phone calls, and a full-time headquarters and staff in Manchester, he has been campaigning "The New Hampshire Way" by having conversations with thousands of citizens in dozens of diners, town halls and community forums, Rotary Club meetings, Republican committee gatherings, on the phone and doorto-door over the past few months. Matern has found that many Republican and lndependent voters are tired of the President's divisive rhetoric, bothered by his broken promises to address the deficit and the national debt, troubled by his lack of character, and worried about the kind of America they will be leaving for their children and grandchildren.

"The spirit of independence and commitment to democracy is alive in well in New Hampshire, but it's under assault by a President who is leading the country in the wrong direction," said Matern. "I know there are thousands of voters in New Hampshire that share my concern that the Party of Lincoln is abandoning the values it once held. The Republican Party needs to be reminded of its traditions of defending civil rights and protecting the environment, and its values of personal responsibility and fiscal discipline. As New Hampshire celebrates its 100th anniversary of the First in the Nation Primary, my message to Granite Staters is a simple one -- Your vote matters!"

Matern is participating in campaign events in Concord, Masan, Salem, Durham, Portsmouth, Lebanon, and Manchester between now and the FITN primary, including town halls at Plymouth State University and New England College on Monday, and is available in Manchester and Concord for media interviews.

Matt Matern has spent his career as a successful attorney in California standing up to bullies, fighting for the rights of working Americans, and supporting efforts in the community that serve the homeless and protect our environment. He is running for President to give voters in New Hampshire and around the country the chance to vote for a candidate for President they can be proud of. As a result of recent events near the campus involving students at New England College and residents of the Town of Henniker, the Town Hall with Matt Matern scheduled for Feb. 10th has been cancelled.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those who were injured in this senseless act of violence and their families. Our thoughts are also with all the students of New England College, which include two members of the Matern 2020 New Hampshire campaign staff.
