« Election Day Plus Twenty: November 23, 2020
Transition Moving Forward Despite Trump's Refusal to Concede
Twenty days after the election and more than two weeks after AP and other news organizations called the election for former Vice President Joe Biden, GSA Administrator Emily Murphy signed a letter making resources and services available to President-elect Biden's transition team. Murphy had been under growing pressure to act and her move puts the transition on an official footing. Continued legal setbacks for the Trump campaign and today's meeting of the Michigan Board of Canvassers which certified the state's results in favor of Biden appear to have tipped the balance. President Trump issued a tweet "recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols," but he continues to make wild charges of fraud and has not conceded.________________
Biden-Harris TransitionFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Statement by Biden-Harris Transition Executive Director Yohannes Abraham
The GSA Administrator has ascertained
President-elect Joe Biden and Vice
President-elect Kamala Harris as the apparent
winners of the election, providing the incoming
Administration with the resources and support
necessary to carry out a smooth and peaceful
transfer of power. Today’s decision is a needed
step to begin tackling the challenges facing our
nation, including getting the pandemic under
control and our economy back on track. This final
decision is a definitive administrative action to
formally begin the transition process with federal
agencies. In the days ahead, transition officials
will begin meeting with federal officials to
discuss the pandemic response, have a full
accounting of our national security interests, and
gain complete understanding of the Trump
administration’s efforts to hollow out government
agencies.
