State Representative Tom Loughman Endorses Pete Buttigieg

Loughman Is The Tenth “Blue Wave” Representative To Endorse Pete

Manchester, NH - Today, as voters head to the polls in New Hampshire, State Representative Tom Loughman (Hampton) endorsed Pete Buttigieg for President, citing his ability to unite the country and his bold vision for the future.

In 2018, Rep. Loughman flipped a Republican-held seat as part of the “Blue Wave” that helped Democrats retake the State House. He is currently serving his first term.

“I expect a lot from a President. I hold the office to the highest standard and its occupant should embody and bring out the very best of us,” said Rep. Loughman. “Pete Buttigieg is smart, but humble. Intellectually curious and always ready to learn. He leads with a solid moral and ethical foundation. I trust his judgement and perhaps more importantly, I trust his word. Pete has a vision for this country, bold policies for a brighter future, the intellect to get us there, and the passion to get the job done. He is also an exceptional communicator. If we ever doubted the power and influence a President’s words can have on people, we don’t anymore. It's time to turn the page on the chaos and partisan rancor of Washington. I trust that Pete will use his talents to bring us together over shared values and towards a common purpose. It’s time for a new generation of leadership so we can ensure all Americans have the opportunity to reach their full potential. It’s time for President Pete Buttigieg.”

The endorsement comes after Pete visited Salem and Londonderry on Sunday, where he drew 1,257 and 914 people respectively — the largest crowds of any candidate in each town this cycle. The record-breaking enthusiasm for Pete in these towns is a clear sign of his ability to attract a broad coalition of progressives, independents, and even Republicans. Salem and Londonderry have consistently voted for the Republican nominee in the past three presidential elections.

Rep. Loughman is the tenth representative who flipped a Republican seat in 2018 to endorse Pete, joining fellow “Blue Wave” Representatives Donna Mombourquette (New Boston), David Woodbury (New Boston), Michelle St. John (Hollis), Cole Riel (Goffstown), Andrew O’Hearne (Claremont), Harrison Kanzler (N. Conway), Paul Dargie (Milford), and Peter Petrigno (Milford) — along with Joelle Martin (Milford), who flipped a Republican seat in 2016.

Other high-profile leaders supporting Buttigieg include: U.S. Representative Annie Kuster, four-term Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess, 12-term State Representative Susan Almy and 17 other state representatives, Cheshire County Sheriff Eli Rivera, women’s health and rights advocate Jennifer Frizzell, Carroll County Democratic Chair Knute Ogren, NEA-NH Executive Director Rick Trombly, former Somersworth Mayor Lincoln Soldatt, former Dover Mayor Karen Weston, and former Lebanon Mayor Suzanne Prentiss.

ABOUT TOM LOUGHMAN

In his first run for office, Tom Loughman flipped a Republican held seat as part of the “Blue Wave” that swept Democrats back into power in the New Hampshire State House. Since taking office, Rep. Loughman has established himself as an effective advocate for working families and those affected by the mental health and addiction crisis. He has helped pass bills that would reform how opioids are prescribed and allow campaign funds to be used for childcare expenses incurred when running for office.

Three Former State Senators — David Pierce, Wayne King, and Harold Janeway — Endorse Pete Buttigieg

Manchester, NH — Today, former New Hampshire State Senators David Pierce, Wayne King, and Harold Janeway endorse Pete Buttigieg.

Pierce was the first openly gay person to be elected to serve in the State Senate and was instrumental in the legalization of marriage equality in New Hampshire. King was the 1994 Democratic gubernatorial nominee in New Hampshire and Janeway is a Navy Veteran and former state senator, who served for nearly two decades as Webster Town Moderator.

Their endorsements come just one week after former State Senator Jackie Cilley offered her support to Buttigieg. In total six former state senators have now endorsed Buttigieg including former Senators Mark Fernald and Rick Trombly, who is the current executive director of NEA-NH.

Former State Senator David Pierce (Lebanon):

“Amid all the chaos and dysfunction from Washington, our country needs calm, reasoned judgment and a unifying vision for the future — which Pete Buttigeg exemplifies. Our nation has been devastated by our current president, who has only made our most pressing problems worse. Pete has bold ideas that are actually achievable — and bring people together. I know first-hand politics is about making changes that actually improve lives — not just making empty statements. Pete has the practical solutions we need to achieve a progressive agenda and a clear plan for the next generation.”

Former State Senator Wayne King (Rumney):

“To heal our country, which will be the next president’s most important job, we need a leader with a steady hand and an open heart — something Pete possesses in a way no other candidate does. Pete is offering our country the chance to put the politics that vilify others behind us, and bring our country together once more so we can finally begin addressing our greatest challenges — particularly climate change. Pete understands that if we do not prevent this looming crisis, we have completely let future generations down. He has set forward a vision for the future that recognizes climate change as the existential crisis it is and offered bold solutions that also unite our country. With the fate of our planet hanging in the balance, I’m proud to support Pete Buttigieg for president.”

Former State Senator Harold Janeway (Webster):

“To break the mold of toxic discourse that has overwhelmed our system, we need a new generation of leaders. We cannot keep relying on the same Washington playbook that has brought us to this point. We need fresh solutions to move our country forward, and Pete Buttigieg is the leader our country needs. He has shown he has the empathy and humanity to bring people together around a vision for our future and put an end to the political warfare that has defined Washington. I’m ready to turn the page with Pete Buttigieg and get our country working again.”

The three former state senators are just the latest prominent New Hampshire leaders to endorse Buttigieg. To date, Buttigieg has been endorsed by dozens of current and former elected officials and activists including U.S. Representative Annie Kuster, State Senator Martha Hennessey, four term Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess, NEA-NH Executive Director Rick Trombly, 12-term State Representative Susan Almy and sixteen other state representatives, Cheshire County Sheriff Eli Rivera, women’s health and rights advocate Jennifer Frizzell, Carroll County Democratic Chair Knute Ogren, former Somersworth Mayor Lincoln Soldatti, and former Lebanon Mayor Suzanne Prentiss.

ABOUT DAVID PIERCE

David Pierce represented State Senate District 5 (Lebanon, Enfield, Canaan, Hanover, Lyme, Plainfield, Cornish, Claremont, and Charlestown) for two terms. He was the first openly gay person to be elected to serve in the New Hampshire State Senate and was instrumental in the legalization of marriage equality in New Hampshire, as well as laws protecting the fundamental right to vote. Prior to serving in the State Senate, Pierce was elected to three terms in the New Hampshire State House of Representatives. In 2012, he was a member of President Barack Obama’s re-election steering committee in New Hampshire.

ABOUT WAYNE KING

Wayne King served three-terms in the State Senate representing Rumney. In 1994, he was the Democratic nominee for governor.

ABOUT HAROLD JANEWAY

Harold Janeway is a Navy veteran and a former state senator who served District 7 (Laconia, Franklin, Webster, Boscawen, and Canterbury). He has held numerous positions including serving as the Webster Town Moderator for nearly two decades, Chairman of the NH Charitable Foundation, and as a board member of the Society for the Protection of NH Forests.

Four-Term Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess Endorses Pete Buttigieg

Manchester, NH — Today, Jim Donchess, the mayor of Nashua — New Hampshire’s second largest city — endorsed Pete Buttigieg for president.

The endorsement is one of Buttigieg’s most significant in New Hampshire to date. Mayor Donchess is a beloved long-time Nashua leader who is currently serving his fourth term as mayor. After serving two terms as mayor beginning in 1984, Mayor Donchess served as Alderman-At Large and then was voted back to the mayor’s office in 2015. Last November, he was re-elected to a fourth term, running unopposed in both the primary and the general elections.

Mayor Donchess and Buttigieg will campaign together in Nashua today at the Riverwalk Cafe at 7:00 AM.

During his time in office, Mayor Donchess has been a leader in expanding access to early childhood education and affordable housing, creating jobs, addressing the opioid crisis, and advocating for public transportation.

“I’m proud to support Pete Buttigieg for President,” said Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess. “Pete is the leader we need to turn the page on the dysfunction and inaction we have been forced to accept from Washington for too long. With his unifying vision for the future, Pete is bringing our country together to tackle our greatest challenges that have only grown worse these last four years. As a fellow mayor, I know first-hand that we don’t have the luxury of letting politics get in the way of what matters most - delivering for the people who depend on you. It’s time we had someone in the White House who understood that. As President, Pete will serve communities like Nashua because he comes from a community like ours, and he will bring the voices of working people from cities and towns across America to Washington.”

“I am humbled to receive the support of my fellow Mayor Jim Donchess,” said Buttigieg. “Mayor Donchess is a living example of why Washington should look more like our best run cities and towns — not the other way around. Under his leadership, Nashua has made great strides on early childhood education, affordable housing, and a revitalized downtown. I’m proud to stand with him in showing the American people that we can do things that have never been done before.”

In Nashua, Mayor Donchess is joined by State Representatives Sue and Ray Newman and Alderman-At-Large Ben Clemons who previously endorsed Pete Buttigieg.

The Mayor is the latest prominent New Hampshire leader to endorse Buttigieg. Other high-profile leaders supporting Buttigieg include: U.S. Representative Annie Kuster, 12-term State Representative Susan Almy and 17 other state representatives, Cheshire County Sheriff Eli Rivera, women’s health and rights advocate Jennifer Frizzell, Carroll County Democratic Chair Knute Ogren, NEA-NH Executive Director Rick Trombly, former Somersworth Mayor Lincoln Soldati, former Dover Mayor Karen Weston, and former Lebanon Mayor Suzanne Prentiss.

State Representative Israel Piedra, Seven Term Concord City Councilor Linda Kenison, and Prominent New Hampshire Activists Endorse Pete Buttigieg

Manchester, NH — Today, State Representative Israel Piedra (Manchester), seven term Concord City Councilor and former State Representative Linda Kenison, and three other Democratic activists announced their support for Pete Buttigieg.

Rep. Piedra is currently serving in his first term representing Manchester's Ward 2, while Kenison is in her seventh term on the Concord City Council, her third consecutive term representing Ward 6, and previously represented Concord in the New Hampshire State House. Both cited Buttigieg’s bold, unifying vision to address our country’s challenges in their endorsements of Buttigieg.

In addition to Rep. Piedra and Councilor Kenison, the latest New Hampshire leaders and activists to support Buttigieg include:

Shanika Amarakoon, Secretary of Portsmouth Democrats

Bree Schuette, Wolfeboro Trustee of Trust Funds

Sarah Ambrogi, Former Five-term Manchester School Board Member

The endorsers join U.S. Representative Annie Kuster, State Senator Martha Hennessey, NEA-NH Executive Director Rick Trombly, 12-term State Representative Susan Almy and sixteen other state representatives, Cheshire County Sheriff Eli Rivera, women’s health and rights advocate Jennifer Frizzell, Carroll County Democratic Chair Knute Ogren, former Somersworth Mayor Lincoln Soldatti, and former Lebanon Mayor Suzanne Prentiss.

Key endorsers — including Rep. Kuster and NH Co-Chairs Maura Sullivan, Suzanne Prentiss, and Jennifer Frizzell  — are spending the weekend launching canvasses across the state as part of Pete For America’s statewide Turn The Page tour.

State Representative Israel Piedra (Manchester):

"Pete Buttigieg is the perfect antidote to our current president. Pete commands respect through his humility and a clear grasp of our country's greatest challenges. As the last four years have shown, you cannot effectively lead the country by alienating half the people in it. Pete is the leader we need to turn the page on all the chaos and division of Washington. With his unifying vision and bold solutions, Pete will take big steps to bring our country together so we can move forward and finally get to work on our most pressing problems."

About Israel Piedra: In 2018, Israel Piedra was elected to serve as a state representative in Manchester's Ward 2. He is a member of the House Committee on Veteran Affairs and State-Federal Relations.

Concord City Councilor and former State Representative Linda Kenison:

“I’m deeply impressed by Pete Buttigieg and believe the vision he has for our future is what our country needs. In South Bend, Pete had a stellar record of putting forth bold, new ideas that are also practical, improve our lives, and unifying — and that is what he is offering our country. We can put an end to the era of political dysfunction and disorder from Washington that we’ve come to expect. Our country deserves better — our country deserves a leader like Pete who will heal our divides so we can begin to address our most pressing challenges like climate change and health care. We cannot go back to the old ways of doing things, it’s time for a new generation of leadership and I look forward to having Pete in the White House.”

About Linda Kenison: Linda Kenison is currently serving in her seventh term as a Concord City Councilor. She is a clinical social worker and a former state representative who was elected three times in Merrimack’s 15th district.

Shanika Amarakoon, Secretary of Portsmouth Democrats:

“I’ve worked on environmental public policy issues for over two decades, and I’m particularly impressed by Pete Buttigieg and his policies to address our greatest environmental challenges. I emigrated from Sri Lanka where we couldn’t drink the water from our tap because it was unsafe. Yet on the Seacoast, in one of the wealthiest nations in the world, I’ve had to confront these same fears with my children because of PFAS contamination. So I welcome Pete’s plan to protect our waters from ‘forever chemicals,’ like PFAS, as well as help communities prepare for and fight climate change. As a mayor, Pete’s been on the front lines, helping his city recover from devastating floods and working directly with families who lost everything. As the youngest candidate, Pete understands the urgency of now on climate action because he will have to live with the consequences if we do not act. As a mother, I feel that same urgency, which is why I’m proud to support Pete Buttigieg. He has put forward bold solutions and is bringing our country together to implement them.”

About Shanika Amarakoon: Shanika Amarakoon is the secretary of the Portsmouth Democrats. For the past two decades, she has worked on environmental public policy issues.

Bree Schuette, Trustee of Trust Funds (Wolfeboro):

“Pete Buttigieg brings a visionary hope for our future that speaks to everyone regardless of who they are. In Wolfeboro, I’ve seen him draw support not just from progressives and moderates, but even Republicans. Our nation can no longer continue to be so divided, and that’s why we need a leader like Pete Buttigieg who can bring people together around big ideas and remind us of our shared values so we can finally begin to tackle the challenges that our current president has made worse. As an Episcopalian, I’m thrilled that Pete is willing and able to talk about faith as a progressive driver of social justice and what it means to help the vulnerable — something that is too rare today. It’s time to turn the page on our politics and bring a new generation of leadership to Washington.”

About Bree Schuette: Bree Schuette was elected to serve as one of Wolfeboro's three Trustees of Trust Funds in 2018 and was an at-large delegate to the New Hampshire Democratic Party Convention.

Sarah Ambrogi, Former Five-term Manchester School Board Member:

“I’m proud to support Pete Buttigieg because he will unite our country and turn the page on all of Washington’s fighting and partisanship. Pete’s practical approach to how we actually get things done is exactly what our country needs. It’s time we finally began addressing our most urgent challenges. Having served on Manchester’s school board for a decade, I particularly appreciate that Pete is the son of educators and married to a teacher, so he understands the challenges our schools face and the critical importance of public education for our country. We need more help from Washington, and as President, Pete will be a true partner to our schools.”

About Sarah Ambrogi: Sarah Ambrogi served on Manchester’s school board for ten years, ending her fifth term in December of 2019.  She is currently the chair of the Manchester Regional Advisory Board for the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.

Foster's Daily Democrat: Op-Ed: Gary Hirshberg: Pete Buttigieg: The 21st century chief executive we need

In Foster’s Daily Democrat yesterday, Gary Hirshberg — the New Hampshire environmental advocate and entrepreneur — wrote about Pete’s unique ability to break with the political warfare of Washington, present bold new solutions and bring Americans together.

Key Excerpts:

Across the US and around the world, leaders are emerging who reject the notion that we can or should return to the past, and are forging a newfound prosperity by bringing their communities together to reimagine their future. One such leader is Pete Buttigieg.

Pete returned to serve his midwestern hometown labeled as one of America’s “dying cities” decades after the loss of its main manufacturer. Under Pete’s leadership, South Bend has seen an economic revival with new jobs, new businesses, and young people returning to settle - a dramatic transformation from industrial devastation just a few years ago.

Though climate change will challenge many communities’ economic stability, I believe it also presents us with the greatest economic opportunity to reinvigorate and reinvent towns on a massive scale across the country -- like Pete has done in South Bend. [...]

Pete’s climate plan is bold and achievable. It is all about creating jobs and economic development. And it comes from the real world on-the-ground experience of dealing with these issues. But to tackle something as big as climate change, we must come together as a country, and reach across partisan divides. We need to reduce the influence of large fossil fuel firms, which is why Pete does not take money from them or corporate PACs. Pete has called for a new national project -- one that calls on every American, from big cities to rural communities, to engage climate action to drive the next economic revolution.

But it’s not just about who has the best plan. The presidency is an executive job, not a legislative one. So we need someone who has done the work and understands the role that Washington DC must play out here in the real world. [...]

And as our president, Pete will be guided by science, maintain an executive temperament and listen to reason. Pete Buttigieg will bring new energy, turn the page on the division and dysfunction of our current politics and bring a fresh, inclusive approach to government that works for us all.

Cannon. “For too long, people have been forced to live fearfully in the shadows or hide their true selves — but Pete is building a country where we can all feel safe. Two Milford State Representatives — Paul Dargie and Peter Petrigno — Endorse Pete Buttigieg

Dargie and Petrigno are the seventh and eighth “Blue Wave” state representatives, who flipped Republican-held seats, to endorse Pete

Manchester, N.H. — Today, Milford State Representatives Paul Dargie and Peter Petrigno, announced their endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for President, citing his bold Medicare For All Who Want It plan and his ability to unify the country. Both representatives flipped Republican seats in 2018, helping Democrats retake the House majority — making them the seventh and eighth “Blue Wave” state representatives to endorse Buttigieg.

During Pete’s visit to New Hampshire in October, Dargie and Petrigno led Pete on a downtown walking tour of Milford.

Dargie is a long-time Milford leader. In addition to serving as a state representative, Dargie is currently the Milford Board of Selectmen’s Vice Chair, and previously served on the Milford School Board for 15 years as well as on numerous town and school sub-committees. Petrigno is a retired teacher, and in 2000, was named New Hampshire Teacher of the Year. He is currently serving his first-term in the State House where he sits on the Children and Family Law Committee.

“Pete Buttigieg has the temperament, the background, and the experience to be a great president, and I’m proud to support him,” said Rep. Paul Dargie. “I had the chance to speak with Pete at length when Rep. Peter Petrigno and I led him on a downtown walking tour of Milford. I was deeply impressed by his quick grasp of our local issues and his ability to compare and contrast our issues with similar national and international issues. The perspective that came from serving on the ground as a mayor will be invaluable in the White House. Just as he did in South Bend, Pete will bring our country together to tackle our greatest challenges. He understands we must heal our country in order to deliver needed change. You can see that in his reasonable approach to health care that doesn’t alienate people or require them to dump their existing plans to achieve universal health coverage.”

“After very careful consideration, I am happy to formally endorse former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg for President of the United States,” said Rep. Peter Petrigno. “I believe he is best suited to win the White House in 2020. As a Midwestern Democrat, Harvard graduate, and Rhodes scholar, Pete is brilliant, articulate, and measured. He brings youthful energy, idealism, vision, and hope for the future. As a lieutenant in the Navy Reserves, intelligence officer, and Afghanistan War veteran, Pete has demonstrated competence, leadership, and patriotism. Specifically on the issue of health care, I believe Pete’s Medicare For All Who Want It plan is the most reasonable approach and has the broadest appeal across the political spectrum. With victory as the goal in 2020, Pete Buttigieg has what it takes to not only win the election, but unite our country to face our greatest challenges.”

Reps. Dargie and Petrigno join six other “Blue Wave” representatives in endorsing Pete: Reps. Donna Mombourquette (New Boston), David Woodbury (New Boston), Michelle St. John (Hollis), Cole Riel (Goffstown), Andrew O’Hearne (Claremont), and Harrison Kanzler (N. Conway).

Since December, Pete Buttigieg has earned 25 endorsements from current and former elected officials, as well as local leaders and Democratic activists including U.S. Representative Annie Kuster, Women’s Health and Rights Advocate Jennifer Frizzell, Carroll County Democrats Chair Knute Ogren, former Executive Council candidate Gray Chynoweth, State Reps. Sue and Ray Newman (Nashua), Nashua Alderman-at-Large Ben Clemons, former Somersworth Mayor Lincoln Soldati, and Rochester City Councilor Chris Rice

ABOUT REP. PAUL DARGIE

Paul Dargie is currently serving his first term in the State House, where he represents Milford as a member of the Municipal and County Government Committee. Dargie is also a Selectman and serves as vice-chair of the board. He previously served as a member of the Milford School Board for 15 years, including the last five years as chairman. He has also served on numerous town and school sub-committees, and was named Milford Citizen of the Year in 2012.

ABOUT REP. PETER PETRIGNO

Peter Petrigno is currently serving his first term in the State House, where he was elected to represent the town of Milford. He sits on the Children and Family Law Committee and is a member of the Economic Justice Caucus and the Veterans Interest Caucus. Women’s Health and Rights Advocate, Progressive Leader, and Former Planned Parenthood Policy Director Jennifer Frizzell Endorses Pete Buttigieg

Manchester, NH Ahead of Pete’s 16th visit to the Granite State, progressive leader Jennifer Frizzell — one of New Hampshire’s leading advocates for women’s health and reproductive freedom — endorsed Pete Buttigieg for President of the United States.

For the past two decades, Frizzell has worked at the highest levels of New Hampshire policy and politics as an advocate for women’s health, gender equality, and reproductive rights. She served as the vice president for public policy at Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, where she also led the Planned Parenthood New Hampshire Action Fund, the organization’s political arm. Previously, Frizzell served as the director of policy for the New Hampshire Senate, and as senior advisor to John Lynch’s successful 2010 gubernatorial campaign. In 2008, she was a co-chair of NH Women for Hillary Clinton. In October 2019, Frizzell was invited to participate in the development and launch of Buttigieg’s women’s empowerment policy: Building Power for Women: An Agenda for the 21st Century.

“I’m proud to support Pete Buttigieg, a staunch ally to women and a leader who will accelerate our progress toward gender equality and reproductive justice,” said Frizzell. “Pete has released a plan that boldly seeks to build enduring power for women and systematically breaks down the institutional barriers that reinforce gender discrimination. But more than just standing up for women, Pete recognizes that all of our rights and freedoms are intertwined. That’s why he has put forward some of the most progressive and comprehensive policies that also tackle health equity, racial, environmental, and economic justice as well as protecting our civil rights and more. With Pete as our president, we can create a new era — one marked by inclusion and belonging, so we can finally come together as a nation, advance a progressive agenda, and address our most urgent challenges.”

In a sign that Buttigieg’s momentum continues to grow, Frizzell is the latest high-profile figure in New Hampshire to announce their support for Buttigieg. Since December, Pete Buttigieg has earned 22 endorsements from current and former elected officials, as well as local leaders and Democratic activists including NEA-NH Executive Director Rick Trombly, Carroll County Democrats Chair Knute Ogren, former Executive Council candidate Gray Chynoweth, State Reps. Sue and Ray Newman (Nashua), Nashua Alderman-at-Large Ben Clemons, former Somersworth Mayor Lincoln Soldati, and Rochester City Councilor Chris Rice

U.S. Representative Annie Kuster Endorses Pete Buttigieg, Named National Campaign Co-Chair

Manchester, NH — Today, U.S. Representative Annie Kuster announced her endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for president of the United States, citing Pete’s ability to unify the country and his bold solutions to our greatest challenges.

Rep. Kuster, who was an early backer of then-Senator Barack Obama in 2007, will also serve as a national campaign co-chair of Pete For America.

“With our country so consumed by division, Pete Buttigieg is the leader who can finally turn the page on the Trump presidency and bring our nation together to usher in a new era where we finally solve our most urgent problems,” said Rep. Kuster. “We need a leader who recognizes that the office of the presidency has the power to bridge our differences — and Pete Buttigieg is that leader. Like Barack Obama before him, Pete is young, inspiring, brings fresh ideas to the table, and is motivated to win. Pete has the courage to lead us to a better future. By building a coalition of progressive Democrats, independents, and disaffected Republicans, Pete will win next November and lead our country to a brighter future for every American.”

“From working to tackle the opioid epidemic and increasing access to health care to honoring our pledge to our veterans and their families when they return home, Rep. Kuster has spent her career delivering results for New Hampshire families,” said Buttigieg. “At a time of so much dysfunction in Washington, Rep. Kuster has brought Americans together to improve the lives of her constituents. She represents the best of our politics and I’m honored to have her serve as our co-chair.”

Rep. Kuster represents New Hampshire’s second congressional district, which includes much of western New Hampshire as well as the northern portion of the state, stretching from Nashua to Berlin. In 2012, she defeated a Republican incumbent to turn the district blue.

On Friday morning, Rep. Kuster will introduce Buttigieg at a town hall in Concord. Rep. Kuster first joined Buttigieg in April at Gibson’s Bookstore, where she helped introduce him to Granite Staters. This fall in New London, she joined Buttigieg for an armchair discussion on his policy to empower women and break down the systemic barriers that have held women back. And during his four-day, all-access bus tour across New Hampshire, Rep. Kuster introduced Buttigieg at a canvass kickoff in Claremont.

Rep. Kuster was first elected to the House of Representatives in November 2012. Prior to taking office, she served as a longtime community activist and adoption attorney. Kuster is the daughter of a WWII veteran and prisoner of war. She is currently a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where she is working to improve access to affordable, quality health care, address climate change, protect our environment, and expand access to broadband internet.

Rep. Kuster joins 12-Term State Representative Susan Almy (Lebanon), Cheshire County Sheriff Eli Rivera, former Lebanon Mayor and current City Councilor Suzanne Prentiss, former New Hampshire Democratic House Leader and NEA-NH Executive Director Rick Trombly, and 15 New Hampshire state representatives in backing Pete Buttigieg for president.

NEA-NH Executive Director and Former State Senator and NH Democratic House Leader Rick Trombly Endorses Pete Buttigieg

Manchester, NH — Today, Rick Trombly, the former New Hampshire House Democratic leader, former state senator, and current executive director of the New Hampshire National Educators Association (NEA-NH), announced his support of Pete Buttigieg for president of the United States. Trombly specifically cited Pete’s ability to unify the country around policies that uplift children and improve the education system.

“The question of which candidate, when elected, will best address our most pressing challenges, while also creating a better future for New Hampshire’s children, is best answered by voting for Pete Buttigieg,” said NEA-NH Executive Director Rick Trombly. “As the son of two educators and the husband of a teacher, Pete understands the challenges facing our children and the complexities of our education system. He understands too many children begin class hungry because they come from homes that are food insecure — or homes where grandparents have become caregivers because the opioid crisis has left parents incarcerated or worse. This election is not about a return to the past, but rather a vision of the future. I’m proud to support Pete Buttigieg, a candidate that gives us a goal worthy enough to work towards and dream about: a country where we work together, despite our differences, to tackle our greatest challenges.”

Trombly has been a long-time New Hampshire labor leader and education advocate. In addition to his leadership at NEA-NH, he was elected to seven terms in the New Hampshire State House, where he served as the Democratic House Leader. He has also served as a New Hampshire state senator, co-chair of the National Stonewall Democrats, Merrimack County Commissioner, Boscawen Selectman, Merrimack Valley School District Moderator, and a member of the Democratic National Committee.

As support for Pete Buttigieg continues to grow across New Hampshire, Trombly is the latest influential Granite Stater to endorse. Since December, Buttigieg has earned 21 endorsements from current and former elected officials as well as local leaders and Democratic activists. These endorsers include “Blue Wave” State Representative David Woodbury, Carroll County Democrats Chair Knute Ogren, former Executive Council candidate Gray Chynoweth, Nashua State Representatives Sue and Ray Newman, Nashua Alderman-at-Large Ben Clemons, former Somersworth Mayor Lincoln Soldati, and Rochester City Councilor-Elect Chris Rice among others.

ABOUT RICK TROMBLY

Rick Trombly is currently the Executive Director of the New Hampshire National Education Association. Previously, he was elected to seven-terms in the New Hampshire State House where he served as the Democratic House Leader. He has also served in the New Hampshire State Senate and as co-chair of the National Stonewall Democrats, Merrimack County Commissioner, Boscawen Selectman, Merrimack Valley School District Moderator, and a member of the Democratic National Committee.

Former New Hampshire Assistant Attorney General Michael Lewis Endorses Pete Buttigieg

Manchester, N.H. — In a letter to the Concord Monitor yesterday, activist and former New Hampshire Assistant Attorney General Michael Lewis announced his endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for President, citing his democratic reforms to the Supreme Court, his military experience, and his ability to unite the country.

Lewis served as Assistant Attorney General at the New Hampshire Department of Justice from 2007 to 2013. He has been a strong advocate for abused and neglected children as the state confronts the opioid crisis. In May, Lewis hosted a house party for Pete.

In a letter in yesterday’s Concord Monitor, Lewis writes:

Pete Buttigieg caught my attention because of his willingness to consider reforms to the United States Supreme Court. This is a mark of confidence in us as a people. We the People are as capable as any other generation of taking on a greater level of agency when it comes to thinking about how constitutional reform can make us a more perfect union.

Since then, Pete has continued to articulate the clearest and most responsible vision for the country. He is a sober, realistic and caring candidate. He put his boots on the ground in foreign lands inside foreign conflicts alongside other committed, young and courageous Americans. Service to this country at home and abroad removes the national interest from the realm of abstraction and makes it a daily, living reality.

That reality is infused into his platform. Pete acknowledges the challenges that will face us on the day after President Trump leaves office. He understands that we will have to recover from what we have done to ourselves by electing a crass, unqualified and brutal man whose first loyalties have always been to himself. Succeeding Trump will take a new sort of leadership, one that is not tied to the gridlock and culture conflict that has weighed down past aspirants.

The closer I’ve listened, the more convinced I’ve become that Buttigieg is the best candidate to initiate this national recovery. And so I’ll be voting for a military veteran, a mayor of an industrial city and a contemporary who has done great honor to himself in this national race.

ABOUT MICHAEL S. LEWIS

From 2007 to 2013, Michael S. Lewis served as Assistant Attorney General at the New Hampshire Department of Justice. For his work at the Attorney General’s Office, Michael received the Robert E. Kirby Award from the New Hampshire Bar Foundation in 2012 recognizing excellent advocacy, civility, courtesy, and perspective as a practicing attorney under the age of 35. Michael is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of New Hampshire, where he teaches sales and commercial law

State Representative David Woodbury Endorses Pete Buttigieg

Woodbury Is The Second New Boston and Sixth "Blue Wave" State Representative to Endorse Pete

Manchester, N.H. — Following Pete’s 15th visit to New Hampshire this past weekend, where he drew nearly 5,600 people to his events across the Granite State, three-term State Representative David Woodbury (New Boston) announced his endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for President.

“I enthusiastically support Pete Buttigieg because he will not only be the most effective in defeating Trump, but is someone who genuinely inspires me,” said Rep. Woodbury. “In September at the New Hampshire Democratic Convention, I felt the excitement and raw emotion that he generated among the crowd that day, and I’ve seen it in homes and community gatherings when people simply mention his name. Rather than further dividing us, Pete is bringing people together around bold solutions to our greatest challenges — particularly health care. He has put forward a plan to fix our health care system, but without splitting our nation and causing millions to lose their care.”

Rep. Woodbury is currently serving his third term in the State House after retaking his seat in 2018 as part of the “Blue Wave” that swept Democrats into the majority.

He is the sixth representative who flipped a Republican seat in 2018 to endorse Pete, joining fellow New Boston “Blue Wave” Representative Donna Mombourquette, who endorsed Pete in September, as well as Representatives Michelle St. John (Hollis), Cole Riel (Goffstown), Andrew O’Hearne (Claremont), and Harrison Kanzler (N. Conway).

Since December, Pete has earned the endorsement of 17 current and former elected officials and local leaders including former executive council candidate Gray Chynoweth, Carroll County Democrats Chair Knute Ogren, State Representatives Sue and Ray Newman (Nashua), Nashua Alderman-at-Large Ben Clemons, General Ken Clark, former Somersworth Mayor Lincoln Soldati, and Rochester City Councilor-Elect Chris Rice.

ABOUT REPRESENTATIVE DAVID WOODBURY

David Woodbury is currently serving his third term in the New Hampshire State House, where he represents New Boston and Mont Vernon as a member of the Judiciary Committee. He is deeply involved in his community having served on New Boston’s Board of Selectmen, the Conservation Commission, and as a school district moderator.

Carroll County Democrats Chair Knute Ogren Endorses Pete Buttigieg

Manchester, NH — Following Pete’s 5th visit to Carroll County this past weekend, the Chair of the Carroll County Democrats, Knute Ogren, announced his support of Pete Buttigieg for President of the United States, citing his ability to mobilize Carroll County and win over rural New Hampshire.

“Pete Buttigieg is a wonderful gift to our country, and I’m proud to support him for President,” said Ogren. “As a person of faith, I appreciate how Pete speaks intelligently and authentically about faith in a way that drives all of us, regardless of our personal faith or lack of faith, to rebuild our community — a rare thing in today’s politics. With our nation so divided, he inspires us to serve and to be compassionate to one another — something our country desperately needs. And as a mayor and a veteran, he has embodied a humble life of service, and we can all learn from his example.”

Ogren’s endorsement comes immediately after Pete’s 15th visit to New Hampshire, where he drew nearly 5,600 people to his events across the Granite State during his four-day trip. During his visit, Pete emphasized the positive impacts of his policies on small towns and rural areas at stops in Claremont, Conway, Wolfeboro, and Franklin, including a bold plan to address the urgent health disparities between urban and rural communities as well as an ambitious policy to significantly grow and empower rural communities economically. His plans will ensure access to maternal and mental health services in rural areas, expand broadband access, invest in education, and empower rural communities to lead the way on solving climate disruption.

As enthusiasm for Pete continues to grow across New Hampshire, Ogren is the second influential public figure to endorse Pete following his visit. Yesterday, Grey Chynoweth, a Democratic activist who had formerly supported Kamala Harris, endorsed Pete.

Since December, 16 current and former elected officials and local leaders have endorsed Pete including State Representatives Sue and Ray Newman (Nashua), Nashua Alderman-at-Large Ben Clemons, former Somersworth Mayor Lincoln Soldati, former Manchester Alderman Jerome Duval, and Rochester City Councilor-Elect Chris Rice. Since the summer, Team Pete in New Hampshire more than doubled its staff, growing from 34 to 70, and opened 14 offices in all 10 New Hampshire counties.

Knute Ogren is the chair of the Carroll County Democrats, and was the 2018 Democratic candidate for State Representative in Carroll County District 5, where he tried to unseat a Republican.

Democratic Activist and Former Executive Council Candidate Gray Chynoweth Endorses Pete Buttigieg

Chynoweth, Who Previously Endorsed Kamala Harris, Will Introduce Buttigieg in Manchester Today

Manchester, N.H.
— As Pete makes his 15th trip to New Hampshire, Democratic activist, business leader, and former Executive Council candidate Gray Chynoweth announced his endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for President, saying Buttigieg’s own military service had inspired him to join the Navy to become an Intelligence Officer.

Chynoweth will introduce Pete during his Manchester town hall today. He had previously endorsed Kamala Harris.

“A house divided cannot stand. We need a leader who will bring our country together so that we may once again be a light in the world,” said Chynoweth. “I can think of no better person to pick up the mantle of leadership and the spirit of public service that John F. Kennedy embodied than Pete Buttigieg. That sense of service has long directed Pete’s actions – from stepping forward, like Kennedy, to serve our country in the Navy, to stepping up to serve his community as Mayor of South Bend. And that sense of service has animated his campaign, which has brought together people from every political persuasion and background because they are inspired by Pete and what he represents – a new politics that is rallying Americans together behind bold ideas that will allow us to finally solve our greatest problems. Inspired by his example, earlier this year, I joined the US Navy Reserves as an Intelligence Officer, and now I’m proud to be a part of his campaign.”

Chynoweth was the Democratic nominee for Executive Council District 4 in 2018, and was the founder and co-chair of two nonprofits: Stay, Work, Play and the Manchester Young Professional Network.

As enthusiasm for Pete Buttigieg continues to grow across New Hampshire, Chynoweth is just the latest influential public figure to endorse Pete. Last month, Pete earned the endorsement of 15 current and former elected officials and local leaders including State Representatives Sue and Ray Newman (Nashua), Nashua Alderman-at-Large Ben Clemons, former Somersworth Mayor Lincoln Soldati, former Manchester Alderman Jerome Duval, and Rochester City Councilor-Elect Chris Rice. Since the summer, Team Pete in New Hampshire more than doubled its staff, growing from 34 to 70, and opened 14 offices in all 10 New Hampshire counties.

Former Somersworth Mayor Lincoln Soldati and Ten More New Hampshire Leaders Endorse Pete Buttigieg

Manchester, NH — Pete Buttigieg continues to gain momentum in New Hampshire with 11 more local officials and Democratic leaders announcing their endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for President of the United States — including former Somersworth Mayor and nine-term Strafford County Attorney Lincoln Soldati, former Manchester Alderman Jerome Duval, Rochester City Councilor-Elect Chris Rice, Holderness Fire Chief Eleanor Mardin, and labor leader and Auburn Select Board member Todd Bedard.

The endorsements come just a week after Buttigieg earned the support of Dover Mayor Karen Weston. And with the endorsement of three elected officials from Nashua — State Representatives Sue Newman and Ray Newman and Alderman-at-Large Ben Clemons — 14 leaders from across New Hampshire have endorsed Pete in the past week alone.

The Latest New Hampshire Leaders Endorsing Pete Buttigieg Are:

  1. Lincoln Soldati — Former Somersworth Mayor, Former Strafford County Attorney
  2. Jerome Duval — Former Manchester Alderman, School Board Member
  3. Eleanor Mardin — Holderness Fire Chief, Navy Veteran
  4. Chris Rice — Rochester City Councilor Elect, Army Veteran
  5. Gary Palumbo — Wilmot Select Board Chair
  6. Todd Bedard — Labor Leader and Auburn Select Board Member
  7. Jennifer Ranz — East Kingston School Board Member
  8. Celeste Cook — Supervisor of the Checklist, New London
  9. Lara Quiroga — Early Childhood Development and Education Advocate, Manchester
  10. Michael Conley — Former Milford School District Moderator, NHDP Delegate
  11. Eric Turer — Brentwood Democratic Committee Chair

Lincoln Soldati, Former Mayor of Somersworth:

“As a former mayor, I know how close mayors are to the everyday problems affecting people’s lives and their responsibility to actually do something about them. Pete has that experience and knowledge — a perspective that is a stark contrast to the current occupant of the White House. But more than his experience, Pete is offering refreshing solutions to long-standing problems like health care. He understands universal coverage is the goal, but the choice should ultimately be up to the individual. And when so much of our politics have been reduced to soundbites and negativity, Pete maintains his calm, focuses on policy, and instills a sense of hope in others. It’s time for a new generation of leadership. It’s time for Pete Buttigieg to lead our nation.”

Jerome Duval, former Manchester Alderman, School Board Member:

“It will be critical for our next president to reach across the divide and bring people together. The president must use their powers to heal our nation — and Pete Buttigieg has the rare ability to do that. I’ve seen him approach disagreements with a maturity beyond his years that focuses on addressing issues in a diplomatic and constructive way — the antithesis of our current president. I deeply admire Pete’s natural ability to articulate a clear, succinct message on an array of issues and connect with people.”

Eleanor Mardin, Holderness Fire Chief, Navy Veteran:

“Pete Buttigieg has a unique understanding of our country that only comes from having served overseas as a naval intelligence officer and at home as a mayor. As a Navy Veteran myself, I know first-hand how eye opening service can be — you learn about who we’re protecting and why, and who our allies are and are not. Pete has this hard-earned knowledge, and as our commander in chief, he would understand how to lead our armed forces and care for our veterans when they return. And as a mayor, Pete understands the unique needs of small towns and how to ensure fire, police, and other essential services have the resources to plan for tomorrow and keep our communities safe.”

Chris Rice, Rochester City Councilor Elect:

“As a United States Army veteran, it matters to me that we haven’t had a President who has actually served in nearly two decades. I trust Pete Buttigieg to be our next commander in chief and to do right by our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines because he was one of them. And I trust him to do right by the American people because he hasn’t been in Washington for decades, he’s been living and serving his hometown in the industrial Midwest. He’s from the middle class and for the middle class, and he’s someone who is working across party lines to solve our greatest challenges because that’s what mayors do.”

Gary Palumbo, Wilmot Select Board Chair:

“Pete Buttigieg understands the importance of how we conduct our politics the day Trump leaves office. He’s putting forward solutions that will make a difference in our lives, while not further escalating the political discord between Americans. Pete also recognizes our country has a crisis of belonging, and as a mayor, he understands the best way to create that sense of belonging is when there is greater community involvement. With Pete and his vision, our country can begin to reconcile and move forward.”

Todd Bedard, Labor Leader and Auburn Select Board Member:

“While our country is being taken to the extremes on the left and the right and getting so caught up in fighting, Pete has never lost sight of what matters: delivering bold solutions that actually improve people’s lives. As a labor leader and an independent voter in a Republican-leaning district, I don’t always see eye to eye with my neighbors on issues — but we all want what’s best for our community: a chance to get ahead when we work hard and opportunities for our kids. Pete gets that, and we need him in the White House, so Washington can finally start delivering for us.”

Jennifer Ranz, East Kingston School Board Member:

“Pete Buttigieg will not only bring stability and sensibility to Washington, he will bring both sides together to finally get something done. When our country feels hopelessly divided, Pete is an inspirational figure that reminds us — no matter your political beliefs — of our shared values and what change can bring about. As a military spouse, it’s clear to me Pete understands the unique challenges facing families like mine and has put forward nuanced, compassionate, and well thought-out policies that will make a real difference in so many lives.”

Celeste Cook, New London Supervisor of the Checklist:

“When I hear Pete Buttigieg speak, he inspires the same feeling in me as Barack Obama: hope. Pete is the most calm and concise person to run since Obama, and we need him in the White House. I’m frightened by the direction of our country and the world. I’m frightened for my grandchildren. For their sake, we have to change the trajectory of this country and put an end to the hopelessness and uncertainty. Pete is offering big solutions, but in a way that brings us together. I particularly appreciate his approach to health care. His plan offers a path to universal coverage, but allows people the choice to keep their own insurance.”

Lara Quiroga, Early Childhood Development and Education Advocate:

“Pete Buttigieg has emerged as a rare leader in our current environment — someone who is calm, thoughtful, and able to bring people together from across the political spectrum. My father is a life-long Republican and we rarely agree on politics, yet we are both drawn to Pete. But more than just uniting the country, Pete is putting forth bold policies that will dramatically improve our lives. Having spent two decades advocating for early childhood education, I am particularly impressed by Pete’s policy on public education as it is one of the only plans that recognizes the importance of early childhood care. Pete understands the most critical period of development is from birth to age five and ensures our children have a strong foundation for a life-time of learning.”

Michael Conley, NHDP Delegate, Teacher, Former Milford School District Moderator:

“Pete is pragmatic while also maintaining a great sense of idealism. He has a progressive vision for our future, but he’s building towards it methodically and strategically. I particularly love his approach to health care. He wants to build a system that actually works for everyone, but has a broad consensus to get us there so it can actually get passed.”

Eric Turer, Chair of the Brentwood Democratic Committee:

“The person, the policies, and the politics — that's why I'm backing Pete Buttigieg for president. As a person, he has shown the type of rare integrity and commitment to honest leadership and inclusiveness that we need. When a brilliant man, with infinite potential, returns to his struggling hometown to successfully help turn it around, enrolls in the military reserve and serves when he is called, and comes out as a gay man against political advice — and wins in a conservative state — that means a lot. I know his Medicare for All Who Want It approach is the right answer. It is a bold but practical approach that achieves the shared goal of universal coverage without forcing millions of Americans off of plans that they feel are working for them. From a practical perspective, a candidate from the Midwest — who has shown he can lead a struggling community back to success, rather than being wrapped up in Washington’s dysfunction — is the best fit for today’s electorate. To win this critical election, and win the next era of American progress, Pete is the right choice for our country.”

Following Pete’s Successful New Hampshire Trip, State Representatives Sue and Ray Newman and Nashua Alderman-at-Large Ben Clemons Endorse Pete Buttigieg

Manchester, N.H. — Following Pete’s 14th trip to New Hampshire last week, three elected officials from Nashua — State Representatives Sue Newman and Ray Newman and Alderman-at-Large Ben Clemons — announced their endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for President.

State Representative Sue Newman has held several positions in Nashua and is currently serving her second term representing the city’s Ward 2 in the State House, where she sits on the Public Works and Highways Committee. Her husband, State Representative Ray Newman, is a former Army helicopter pilot and a Vietnam Veteran who is currently representing Nashua’s Ward 2 in his first-term on the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee. The Newmans are the eleventh and twelfth State Representatives to endorse Pete Buttigieg so far.

In November, Ben Clemons was elected to his fourth term on Nashua’s Board of Aldermen, where he previously served as vice president.

State Representative Sue Newman:

“The first time I saw Pete Buttigieg, the enthusiasm in the large crowd of both young and not-so-young people was felt! While everyone couldn’t correctly pronounce his last name then, we all recognized Pete as an exceptionally bright leader, who thinks big, listens well, and is able to thoughtfully articulate solutions to the issues affecting all of us: health care, climate change, gun violence prevention, the need for quality education and economic opportunities for everyone, and the critical need to heal our polarized nation. I’m proud to support Pete Buttigieg.”

State Representative Ray Newman:

“I saw Pete on one of his first trips to New Hampshire, and I was immediately impressed by his vision of a new era for this country and our future. With everything at stake in this election, it’s time for a new generation of leadership. He may be young, but Pete has the experiences that make him fully capable of being our next President. When I was 24, I was a helicopter pilot in the Army and commanded a maintenance detachment in Vietnam. I knew that with little experience in the maintenance of jet engines and avionics, I needed to rely on and inspire the members of my team to accomplish our mission effectively while working under difficult circumstances. As a veteran, Pete has that same mission-driven focus on teamwork. And as a mayor, he knows what it takes to create, inspire, and lead a team to deliver for the people counting on him. For all these reasons and more, I’m proud to support Pete Buttigieg.”

Nashua Alderman-at-Large Ben Clemons:

“With America’s standing in the world so degraded and our alliances so frayed by the Trump administration, I’m proud to support Pete Buttigieg because he has the experience, temperament, and wisdom to restore American leadership and diplomacy abroad. As a veteran, Pete has personally defended our interests and safeguarded our Democratic values — something this country has been severely lacking of late. I’ve seen my family hurt by Trump’s trade wars. I’ve watched my close friends and family deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan on the orders of our commander in chief — and seen what happens when they return. Pete understands that foreign policy isn’t an abstract discussion, but something that affects our everyday lives.”

The latest endorsements come amid a growing surge of support for Pete Buttigieg. Last week, ahead of his 14th trip to the Granite State, Pete earned the “key endorsement” of General Ken Clark, who retired as the Adjutant General of the NH National Guard. Including the Newmans, Pete has earned the endorsement of 12 state representatives along with 27 current and former elected officials and Democratic activists. In recent weeks, that list has grown to include Rochester City Councilor and Air Force Veteran Jeremy Hutchinson, long-time Keene City Councilor Randy Filiault, and former Dover Mayor Karen Weston. Since the summer, Team Pete in New Hampshire nearly doubled its staff, growing from 34 to 70 and opening 13 offices in all 10 New Hampshire counties.

ABOUT REPRESENTATIVE SUE NEWMAN

Sue Newman has long been active in Nashua, serving as a Ward Selectman, PTO President, a member of MOMS Demand Action, and a member of the Nashua Board of Education for eight years. She is currently serving her second term as a state representative from Nashua’s second ward and sits on the Public Works and Highways Committee. Sue is married to Representative Ray Newman, and together they have three children and six grandchildren.

ABOUT REPRESENTATIVE RAY NEWMAN

Dover Mayor Karen Weston Endorses Pete Buttigieg

Manchester, NH — Today, Dover Mayor Karen Weston announced her endorsement of Pete Buttigieg, citing his experience leading South Bend and his ability to bring Americans together to address the country’s most urgent challenges.

Weston has served on the Dover City Council for 12 years, and for the past six years has been the city's mayor.

“I met a lot of presidential candidates this year, but I found Pete the most grounded and the most clear about his vision for the county. Granite Staters are looking for a leader who doesn’t just have bold ideas — but can actually bring the country together to tackle the challenges we face,” said Weston. “Mayors know how to bring people together, balance budgets, solve problems, and serve their communities — and that’s why I’m proud to support Pete. As Mayor, Pete has had to deal with the most urgent issues facing our country — from immigration to health insurance coverage to gun violence. Leading a city has given Pete the foundation, and the granular attention to detail, to be a great president.”

Weston is just the latest local official to endorse Buttigieg. Last month, Keene City Councilor Randy Filault announced his endorsement of Buttigieg. So far, ten state representatives have endorsed Pete Buttigieg along with 24 current and former elected officials and Democratic activists, including Rochester City Councilor and Air Force veteran Jeremy Hutchinson, who introduced Pete at his Veteran’s Day Address in Rochester. Over the last three months, Team Pete in New Hampshire nearly doubled its staff, growing from 34 to 66 and opening 13 offices in all 10 counties.

In July, Buttigieg held a rally in Dover where more than 800 people showed up — despite the event being held at 10:00 AM on a weekday with a forecast of thunderstorms.

Chair of Derry Town Council Neil Wetherbee Endorses Pete Buttigieg, Citing His Experience As Mayor and Ability To Unify The Country

Manchester, NH — Ahead of Pete Buttigieg’s 14th trip to New Hampshire on Thursday, the Chair of the Derry Town Council, Neil Wetherbee, announced his endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for President of the United States.

Wetherbee is currently serving his third term on the Derry Town Council and is a local business owner.

“I’m proud to endorse Pete Buttigieg because as a mayor he understands there’s no Democratic way or Republican way to pick up the trash, plow the roads, or put out fires — the only thing that matters is delivering for the people who count on you, a perspective that’s missing from Washington these days,” said Wetherbee. “As the Chair of the Derry Town Council and an independent, I work with Democrats and Republicans. When we disagree, we don’t turn it into a partisan shouting match, we work it out — and as a mayor, that’s Pete’s approach. When our country is so polarized, Pete is bringing people together from across the political spectrum to implement bold solutions that the American people want and are actually achievable.”

Wetherbee is the latest local official to endorse Buttigieg. Late last month, long-time Keene City Councilor Randy Filiault announced his support for Pete, and so far, ten state representatives have endorsed Pete along with twenty-four current and former elected officials and Democratic activists including Cheshire County Sheriff Eli Rivera, Epping Select Board Chair and Army Veteran Adam Munguia, and Rochester City Councilor and Air Force Veteran Jeremy Hutchinson. And since the summer, Team Pete in New Hampshire nearly doubled its staff, growing from 34 to 66 and opening 13 offices in all 10 counties.

ABOUT NEIL WETHERBEE

Neil Wetherbee is serving his third term on the Derry Town Council, where he is currently the Chair. He is also a member of the Derry School Board’s Fiscal Advisory Committee and a former member of the Derry Conservation Commission, which he chaired. Wetherbee is also the Vice President and Marketing Manager of the Derry Homegrown Farm and Artisan Market. In addition, he is a local business owner as a partner of a Derry based marketing, design and consulting company.

8-Term, 21-Year Keene City Councilor and Navy Veteran Randy Filiault Endorses Pete Buttigieg

Manchester, NH — Today, Keene City Councilor and Navy Veteran Randy Filiault announced his endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for President, citing Pete’s military service and experience as a mayor.

Councilor Filiault is currently in his eighth term on the Keene City Council, where he has served for 21-years. Filiault is a US Navy veteran who was stationed aboard the USS George Washington Carver, a ballistic missile submarine, during the Cold War. In addition, he served for six years with the Keene Fire Department Call Company as a firefighter and EMT.

“When someone shows you their true colors, believe them. Pete Buttigieg has shown the nation he has the experience, temperament, and service needed to be our next President,” said Keene City Councilor Randy Filiault. “Pete voluntarily chose to serve our country in Afghanistan, and he chose to serve his hometown as mayor. So by looking at what he’s done, you can see what he will do for the country. What may seem like a small issue — a stop sign in a neighborhood, the needs of a small business owner, or someone who is homeless — those who serve locally understand the smallest things can make the biggest differences in our lives. As a mayor, Pete would bring this critical perspective to Washington along with a focus on getting the job done so we can finally bring our country together and address our greatest challenges.”

Councilor Filiault’s endorsement comes after Pete Buttigieg wrapped his four-day, 10-county, open-press New Hampshire bus tour and unveiled a policy to support veterans and their families on Veteran’s Day. The tour brought over 4,370 people to events, and came amid a growing surge of enthusiasm for Pete across the Granite State. Ten State representatives have endorsed Pete Buttigieg and twenty-one current and former elected officials and Democratic activists including Cheshire County Sheriff Eli Rivera and former Lebanon Mayor Suzanne Prentiss are backing the mayor. And over the last three months, Team Pete in New Hampshire nearly doubled its staff, growing from 34 to 66 and opening 13 offices in all 10 of New Hampshire’s counties.

ABOUT RANDY FILIAULT

Randy Filiault is serving in his fourth term as Keene City Councilor, at-large. Prior to his current position, Filiault represented Ward 2 for four terms, beginning in 1992. He is also a US Navy Veteran, having first enlisted during the Vietnam War. He went on to attend US Navy Nuclear Submarine School and served aboard the USS George Washington Carver, a ballistic missile submarine, during the Cold War. In addition to his military service, Filiault served for six years with the Keene Fire Department Call Company as a firefighter and EMT.

Former State Senator and Democratic Gubernatorial Nominee Mark Fernald Endorses Pete Buttigieg

Manchester, NH — Following Pete Buttigieg’s four-day, 10-county bus tour, today former Democratic gubernatorial nominee and State Senator Mark Fernald endorsed Pete Buttigieg for President, citing Pete’s ability to defeat Donald Trump and unite the country.

Fernald was the 2002 Democratic nominee for Governor. In 1998 and 2000, he was elected to represent District 11 in the State Senate. Last month, during Pete’s visit to Peterborough, Fernald introduced him to a crowd of eager supporters during a town hall meeting.

“Pete Buttigieg is the best candidate for the Democratic Party, and the candidate best suited to serve as the next President of the United States,” Fernald said. “Pete stands as the perfect foil to Donald Trump — young, energetic, and eloquent. But more than that, Pete is able to speak to people across the political spectrum and unite all of us around common sense solutions to our biggest problems. We saw that clearly at the latest debate on issues like health care and gun control. He understands the ultimate goal is universal health coverage, but he recognizes there is more than one way to achieve that goal. Rather than getting bogged down in unproductive partisan fights, Pete is putting forward bold policies that the majority of Americans have been calling for.”

Fernald’s endorsement is just the latest in a growing surge of enthusiasm for Pete Buttigieg across the Granite State. In September and October, eight New Hampshire state representatives endorsed Pete, bringing the total to ten. Pete also earned the endorsement of twenty-one current and former elected officials and Democratic activists including Cheshire County Sheriff Eli Rivera, former Lebanon Mayor Suzanne Prentiss, and New Hampshire “power couple” John and Mary Rauh. And over the last few months, Team Pete in New Hampshire nearly doubled its staff, growing from 34 to 65 and opening 13 offices in all 10 of New Hampshire’s counties.

ABOUT MARK FERNALD

Mark Fernald was elected to the State Senate in 1998 and 2000. He was the first Democrat to hold the District 11 seat since before the Civil War. In 2002, he was the Democratic nominee for Governor. In addition to his service as an elected official, Fernald is active in his community having served on the boards of the Peterborough Chamber of Commerce, the Colonial Theatre in Keene, the Kiwanis Club of Peterborough, the Monadnock Community Early Learning Center, the Peterborough Children’s Choir, and Union Congregational Church. Fernald also served as a New Hampshire delegate to the General Synod of the United Church of Christ. He was born in Keene, raised in Peterborough, and now lives in Sharon.

Four-Term Cheshire County Sheriff Eli Rivera Endorses Pete Buttigieg

Sheriff Eli Rivera Is The First Democratic Sheriff To Be Elected in Cheshire County

Keene, N.H. — Today, Cheshire County Sheriff Eli Rivera announced his endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for President, citing Buttigieg’s national service and Medicare For All Who Want It plans, and Pete’s ability to unite Americans to tackle the mental health care and substance misuse crises.

Rivera — a veteran of the US Army Reserve and Coast Guard as well as a retired Keene Police Lieutenant — is currently serving his fourth term as the Sheriff of Cheshire County. He is the first Democratic Sheriff to serve Cheshire County since the position became an elected office in 1879.

“Our country may be in a crisis, but Pete Buttigieg gives me hope. He is bringing people together from every walk of life to solve our most significant challenges with bold new ideas. When politicians in Washington seem more interested in fighting each other, Pete is uniting us,” said Sheriff Rivera. “I’m proud to support Pete Buttigieg for President of the United States. With Pete, we have a chance to unite our country around our shared values and work together to overcome our most significant challenges. I want to look back and remember this election as the time we all came together to heal our country — before it was too late.”

Rivera was first elected as Sheriff of Cheshire County in 2012 and is currently serving his fourth term. Rivera is a veteran of the US Army Reserve and the Coast Guard as well as a retired Keene Police Lieutenant. For his service, he was awarded the Keene Police Chief’s Commendation and the NH Congressional Police Commendation. Rivera has also been a long-time volunteer with local organizations including Project Graduation, Keene Kiwanis, Keene Community Kitchen, and Special Olympics. Rivera has also served on the Keene School Board and as a Commissioner on the NH Department of Education’s Commission on Higher Education. He currently serves on the Monadnock United Way Board of Directors and is a member of the New Hampshire Governor’s Council on Diversity and Inclusion. He is married with three children.

Read Rivera’s op-ed to the Union Leader here:

Union Leader: Eli Rivera -- Buttigieg is a leader to heal our country

By Eli Rivera

EVERY MORNING for more than 30 years, I’ve been proud to serve as a law enforcement officer with the Winchester and Keene police departments, and now as sheriff of Cheshire County.

However, in recent years, in addition to my badge, I’ve been carrying a growing sense of concern for my community as we wage a battle against substance-misuse disorders and face a mental health care crisis.

My deputies and I, along with law enforcement officers nationwide, have been on the front lines trying to help our neighbors. We’ve undergone training to help those with mental-health challenges and substance-misuse disorders, and continue to do our best to confront this crisis.

But overdose deaths continue to rise, and we see the same people cycle in and out of the system. Sometimes it feels like we’re just putting a small bandage over a bleeding artery. It’s clear there’s something seriously wrong on a much deeper level in our community and our country: we have lost a sense of purpose in a rapidly changing world.

This is a challenge far beyond law enforcement officers, as it cuts to the core of our nation and what it means to be American. These issues must be addressed by the highest office in the land.

Our country may be in a crisis, but Pete Buttigieg gives me hope. He is bringing people together from every walk of life to solve our most significant challenges with bold new ideas. When politicians in Washington seem more interested in fighting each other, Pete is uniting us.

You can see that in his mental health care plan. Yes, he has put forth the most comprehensive plan to address the heart of the mental health care and addiction crisis, connecting the dots between overdose and mental health, and empowering communities to address their unique challenges. But more than the extensiveness of his plan, Pete understands that in order to heal, we must ensure everyone feels like they belong in their community and our country.

You can see this same approach with his health-care plan, Medicare For All Who Want It. Pete understands the urgent need to ensure every American has health care, but he’s doing it in a way that gives us a choice and doesn’t force millions to give up their private insurance if they don’t want to.

You can also see it in how he treats everyone with respect, compassion, and dignity, regardless of who they are or where they are in life’s journey. As the only Hispanic sheriff in New Hampshire, I appreciate that Pete is calling for common-sense immigration reform and offering a path to citizenship to those fleeing violence, while still protecting our nation.

Underlying all of his plans is that set of core values he clearly laid out in his first major policy, his national service plan. Like me, Pete served in our nation’s military, so he understands the power of service to bring people together around a shared purpose. By committing to create one million paid civilian service positions by 2026, he’s offering young people a chance to serve their country and give them a sense of purpose at a time when it’s missing for too many.

For a lot of us, that sense of purpose defines who we are, and our belief in service above self is our driving force. And by coming together around a mission bigger than ourselves, we can start to heal our communities from within and bridge a divided nation.

For all these reasons and more, I’m proud to support Pete Buttigieg for President of the United States. With Pete, we have a chance to unite our country around our shared values and work together to overcome our most significant challenges. I want to look back and remember this election as the time we all came together to heal our country — before it was too late.

Eli Rivera is a retired Keene police lieutenant and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Army Reserve. He is currently serving his fourth term as sheriff of Cheshire County.

State Representative Diane Langley and Prominent New Hampshire Activists Endorse Pete Buttigieg

Rep. Langley Is the Tenth State Representative to Endorse Buttigieg

Four More Prominent Activists From Across New Hampshire Are Also Backing Buttigieg

Manchester, NH - Today, State Representative Diane Langley (Manchester) and four prominent activists from across New Hampshire announced their endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for President. Rep. Langley is the tenth State Representative to endorse Buttigieg.

In addition to Rep. Langley, the latest New Hampshire leaders and activists who are supporting Pete include:

Judy Carr, Democratic Activist, Hollis
Sarah Welsch, Former City Councilor, Lebanon
Carol McMahon, Democratic Activist, Wolfeboro
Terry Reeves, Democratic Activist, Peterborough

The endorsements come after four State Representatives — Michelle St. John (Hollis), Harrison Kanzler (Conway), Donna Mombourquette (New Boston), and John Mann (Alstead) — endorsed Pete in the past three weeks. So far, a total of ten state representatives have endorsed Pete as well as several high-profile local leaders like former Lebanon Mayor and current City Councilor Suzanne Prentiss, Epping Board of Selectmen Chair and Army Veteran Adam Munguia, and 2016 Democratic Nominee for Executive Council and progressive advocate Dan Weeks.

State Representative Diane Langley, Manchester:

“No other candidate in this race is more qualified to be America’s next Commander-in-Chief than Pete Buttigieg. As a veteran who served in Afghanistan, Pete knows firsthand the impact war has on those who serve and their families. That’s an invaluable perspective we desperately need in the White House. I’m endorsing Pete because he has the courage to actually listen to people and put forth policies, like Medicare For All Who Want It, that will move this country forward — instead of further dividing us. As a veteran and the mayor of a Midwestern city, Pete has the experience, intelligence, and values needed to bring Americans together and solve the urgent crises facing this country.”

Judy Carr, Democratic Activist, Hollis:

“Pete is the leader our country has been in search of. He is thoughtful, measured, and careful in his approach to policy, and he brings Americans from every walk of life together in pursuit of real solutions to our greatest challenges — rather than partisan ideology. Pete’s ability to connect with voters regardless of their political party stems from the way he speaks honestly and openly about faith, values, and patriotism. Moreover, he has shown he has the level-headed approach and self-control needed to stand up to Trump without being pulled into his distractions. For all these reasons and many more, I am proud to support Pete Buttigieg for President of the United States.”

Sarah Welsch, Former City Councilor, Lebanon:

“Pete Buttigieg has a special spark within him — one that inspires people from all walks of life. When I hear people talk about him, they use the same words we used for the most exciting leaders of my generation. We need Pete in the White House because he is someone who reminds us of our best values, instills a sense of hope, and unites our country. We face so many urgent challenges right now, but Pete is bringing our country together and empowering us to overcome these challenges before it’s too late.”

Carol McMahon, Democratic Activist, Wolfeboro:

“Pete Buttigieg inspires me in a way that I didn’t believe would be possible after Barack Obama. When I hear Pete speak, I get that same feeling as when I listened to President Obama — hopeful for the future. Before Pete, I had never heard anyone talk about addressing the crisis of belonging impacting families and communities across our state and country. But it’s clear our nation is suffering and he is the right person for this critical moment in our history.”

Terry Reeves, Democratic Activist, Peterborough:

“If there is any silver lining to the Trump presidency, it is that he has gotten us to realize that character, integrity and intelligence, now more than ever, truly matter in our next president. I am voting for Pete because he’s brilliant, kind, and conveys a quiet calm I find reassuring and positive. I want passion that comes from optimism and faith—not from anger or grievance. Pete is the one Democrat who stands out because he brings a mature voice, models a clear and articulate vision, and has the experience and judgment to make us the country we can be again.”

Rep. Mombourquette is the Third “Blue Wave” State Representative and the Ninth State Representative to Endorse Pete

Manchester, N.H. — Today, State Representative Donna Mombourquette (New Boston) announced her endorsement of Pete Buttigieg for President. Rep. Mombourquette flipped a highly contested Republican seat last year, helping Democrats retake the majority in the New Hampshire House.

Rep. Mombourquette is the ninth state representative to endorse Pete. Last week, State Representatives Michelle St. John (Hollis), Harrison Kanzler (Conway), and John Mann (Alstead) also announced their support for Buttigieg. Earlier this month, Buttigieg received the endorsements of 12-term State Representative Susan Almy (Lebanon), State Representative Andrew O’Hearne (Claremont), and State Representative Dave Morrill (Keene). They join State Representatives Matt Wilhelm (Manchester) and Cole Riel (Goffstown), who announced their support for Pete earlier this spring and summer.

“Pete is a unifier who can bring people together to get things done for the people of New Hampshire and this country. We need a nominee who isn’t polarizing or adversarial — and can unite Republicans, Democrats, and independents to win back the White House,” said Rep. Mombourquette. “As someone who has worked my entire life helping vulnerable populations, I know that Pete’s health care and mental health care plans will make a positive impact in people’s lives — and can actually be achieved. Finally, as the wife of a career Air Force officer and stepmother to a Marine Veteran, I trust Pete as Commander-in-Chief because he knows firsthand the human cost of our country’s endless wars.”

In the Past 24 Hours, Three More New Hampshire State Representatives Have Endorsed Pete Buttigieg

Today, Pete Buttigieg received the endorsements of three New Hampshire State Representatives — bringing his total number of endorsements from New Hampshire legislators to eight.

The endorsements include four-term Representative John Mann (Alstead), who endorsed Buttigieg based on his commitment to climate action. Freshman State Representatives Harrison Kanzler (Conway) and Michelle St. John (Hollis) — who flipped Republican seats in 2018, helping Democrats retake the New Hampshire House — also announced their support for Buttigieg. Rep. St John specifically cited Pete's Medicare For All Who Want It plan in her endorsement.

Representatives Mann, Kanzler and St. John are just the latest to endorse Buttigieg. Earlier this summer, Buttigieg earned the endorsements of State Representatives Cole Riel (Goffstown) and Matt Wilhelm (Manchester). In the past month, Buttigieg has also received backing from 12-Term State Representative Susan Almy (Lebanon), Three-Term State Representative Andrew O’Hearne (Claremont), Representative Dave Morrill (Keene), former State Representative Andy White (Lebanon), and former Lebanon Mayor and current City Councilor Suzanne Prentiss.

Read more coverage about today’s endorsements from WMUR and The Keene Sentinel.

State Representative John Mann (Keene):

“In the coming decades, our country is in for a rough ride as we deal with the impacts of the climate crisis and the ensuing global turmoil. We need a President like Pete Buttigieg who possesses the moral grounding and intellectual agility needed to enlist the energies of every American to address the climate crisis. Pete is a leader who doesn't just preach to the choir, but can unite Americans around our shared values so that we can address the tremendous challenges our country faces. During this campaign, Pete has laid out a positive vision for the future of this country — and shown that he is capable of bringing Americans together to achieve that vision. In this election, I am voting not only for myself but my children and grandchildren, and that’s why I am putting my trust in Pete Buttigieg.”

State Representative Michelle St. John (Hollis):

“The most important task for our next president is to bridge the divide in our country. There is no question that Pete Buttigieg is a leader who will heal our country and bring Americans together to address the tremendous challenges we face. On health care, Pete’s Medicare For All Who Want It plan would give Americans the freedom to choose the best plan for them and their families — while at the same time ensuring everyone has access to the care they need. That’s exactly the kind of bold, big thinking we need to solve our most pressing problems — without further dividing our country. We need leaders like Pete who not only possess bold ideas, but can rally Americans around our shared values to bring about the change we need.”

State Representative Harrison Kanzler (Conway):

“The greatest problems facing our country have been years in the making -- yet leaders in Washington have been unable or unwilling to do anything to address them. It’s time for a new generation of leaders, like Pete, to take charge. Like me, Pete comes from a generation that lived through the Great Recession and watched as leaders in Washington neglected the big challenges facing our country — from the looming climate crisis to an economy that leaves too many behind. I’m supporting Pete because he has laid out a clear path with actionable steps to solve the challenges facing our country and build a better future for our children. During a time of partisan division, Pete is a leader who can unite Americans around our shared values and ensure we take action to improve people’s lives.”

ABOUT REPRESENTATIVE JOHN MANN: Rep. Mann is a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, representing Cheshire County's second district. He was first elected to office in 2012 and is currently serving his fourth term. Mann sits on the House Committee on Science, Technology, and Energy, where he has been instrumental in passing legislation to address climate change, expand clean energy, and raise energy efficiency standards. Mann is a veteran of the US Navy and is married with three children.

ABOUT REPRESENTATIVE MICHELLE ST. JOHN: In 2018, Rep. St. John won a Republican seat to become a State Representative in Hillsborough County’s twenty-seventh district. She currently sits on the House Committee on Children and Family Law. Prior to becoming a State Representative, St. John served on the Hollis School board. • State Representative Cole Riel (Goffstown)
  • Former Lebanon Mayor, Current City Councilor Suzanne Prentiss
  • Epping Board of Selectmen Chairman, Army Veteran Adam Munguia
  • 2016 Democratic Nominee for Executive Council, Environmental Advocate Dan Weeks
  • Former State Representative and Democratic Floor Leader Andrew White (Lebanon)

State Representative Susan Almy:

"For two-and-a-half years, most Americans of every political persuasion have gone through their days tensed for what destructive chaos may come next. We need a President who will reach out to all Americans and remind them of our shared values, and what they mean in action. We need Pete Buttigieg's ability to listen and bring people together, his calmness, competency, determination, and his youth. During Pete's town hall in Cornish, I saw a leader who brought out the best in the over 500 people present, dealt well with every issue thrown at him, and won our hearts and minds. Pete can outshine a looming Donald Trump in the debates, and he can bring our country through to a sustainable future worthy of the United States of America."

State Representative Andrew O’Hearne:

“Pete Buttigieg is a once in a generation candidate who has shown he is uniquely qualified to be the next president of the United States. In May, I attended Pete’s Fox News town hall where I watched him listen to the people of Claremont — and demonstrate an understanding of the challenges facing our community. With honesty and humility, Pete has offered fresh solutions, while Washington continues to offer the same empty words. Pete reminds me of great presidents like John F. Kennedy who rose above politics and built a better future for everyone. I’m not a politician — I’m a former member of law enforcement and union member — and that’s why I want Pete to be president. We need a president like Pete who can bring fresh, practical solutions to the challenges facing this country and who isn’t stuck in the old ways of Washington.”

State Representative Dave Morrill:

“Pete Buttigieg is the best candidate to take back the White House and bring in an administration that unifies this country. In a moment of growing division, Pete can unite all of America with his bold vision for the future. As a veteran and millennial Midwestern mayor, Pete stands in vivid contrast to our current president. This is the most important election in our lifetime and Pete understands that we need fresh solutions that emerge from outside Washington. With scientists warning that we only have 12 years before we hit the point of no return when it comes to our climate, we may not have another chance to get this right. That’s why I’m going to do everything in my power to ensure Pete can help us win the era — because we can’t afford not to.”

State Representative Matt Wilhelm:

“In making national service a policy priority, Mayor Pete has shown that he takes seriously the responsibility of unleashing the power and potential of our country’s most valuable natural resource: its people. I’m committed to doing everything I can over the next 7 months to help Mayor Pete win not only our first-in-the-nation presidential primary, but to win the era. The future of our democracy depends on it.”

Lebanon City Councilor and former Mayor Suzanne Prentiss:

“As the chief executive of an American city, Pete knows what it takes to deliver real results for people -- and his common-sense, practical approach to government is exactly what we need in Washington. As someone who has spent years serving in local office, I deeply admire Pete’s record as a mayor, his boots on the ground perspective, and his clear understanding of how policies impact our lives. Pete is in touch with his community — he knows the cost of a gallon of milk, and at the same time knows the cost to fill a pothole. That’s why I am proud to put my full support behind Pete Buttigieg and do whatever I can to ensure he becomes the next President of the United States.”

Army Veteran and Epping Board of Selectmen Chair Adam Munguia:

“Pete Buttigieg has the qualities that make me proud to have served in the same military as this man. I know I can trust Pete’s judgment as Commander-in-Chief not just because of his intelligence and temperament -- but because anyone who has served knows the costs of war and would never deploy our troops lightly. We need a leader like Pete because he has the experience that only comes from serving -- from seeing what happens to your friends after they’ve been too close to the heat. And more than anyone else running, Pete has the urgency to actually fix our broken political and economic systems because the decisions he makes will actually impact him. It’s time for a generational transition, which is why I’m getting off the sidelines for the first time in years and throwing my full support behind Pete.”

Environmental advocate, clean energy entrepreneur, and the 2016 Democratic Nominee for Executive Council District Five Dan Weeks:

“Pete’s climate plan brings the fresh solutions and urgency needed to avert climate catastrophe and that's why I'm proud to endorse him for president. While most of our political leaders have dawdled or outright denied the climate crisis, we the people have faced its full effects. In New Hampshire, the Seacoast has been inundated by floods and rising seas. Our maple trees are migrating northward and moose are dying from an explosion in ticks. Pete’s plan brings the urgency we need to beat the odds on climate change before it’s too late by uniting our entire country — and world. As a mayor, he knows top-down solutions aren’t enough, so he is empowering communities and giving them the resources they need to make our communities resilient — and lead the transition to a clean energy economy. This is exactly the kind of bold solution we need for our country, which is why I’m so proud to support Pete.”

Former State Representative, Democratic Floor Leader Andrew White:

“Pete is the leader our country needs at this critical moment. At a time when our nation is faced with so many challenges -- climate change, gun violence, an addiction crisis, a changing economy -- our current President is sowing chaos and actively dividing our country for political gain. Pete stands in vivid contrast to Trump -- he’s calm, deeply thoughtful, and intelligent. More importantly, with all of the urgent problems our country is facing, Pete has the unique ability to unite us around our common values and build a better future.”

Former Lebanon Mayor and City Councilor Suzanne Prentiss Endorses Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Citing His Executive Leadership Experience and Record of Service

Manchester, NH - Today, the former Mayor of Lebanon and current City Councilor Suzanne Prentiss announced her endorsement of Mayor Pete Buttigieg for president. Prentiss is a former Republican and now independent who for the first time is publicly endorsing a Democratic presidential candidate in a primary.

State Representatives Matt Wilhelm (Manchester) and Cole Riel (Goffstown) have also endorsed Pete.

“As the chief executive of an American city, Pete knows what it takes to deliver real results for people -- and his common-sense, practical approach to government is exactly what we need in Washington,” said Lebanon City Councilor and former mayor Suzanne Prentiss. “As someone who has spent years serving in local office, I deeply admire Pete’s record as a mayor, his boots on the ground perspective, and his clear understanding of how policies impact our lives. Environmental Advocate Dan Weeks Endorses Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Citing His Plan to Address Climate Crisis

The Clean Energy Entrepreneur and 2016 Democratic Nominee for Executive Council Backs Pete Buttigieg’s New Plan to Address the Climate Crisis – and His Campaign for the White House

Manchester, NH - Today, Dan Weeks, an environmental advocate, clean energy entrepreneur, and the 2016 Democratic Nominee for Executive Council District Five announced his endorsement of Mayor Pete Buttigieg for president.

This is the third New Hampshire endorsement Pete Buttigieg has received in the past two days. Yesterday, 12-term State Representative Susan Almy (Lebanon) endorsed Pete — and this morning Representative Dave Morrill (Keene) announced his support for the mayor. State Representatives Matt Wilhelm (Manchester) and Cole Riel (Goffstown) have also endorsed Pete.

“Pete’s climate plan brings the fresh solutions and urgency needed to avert climate catastrophe and that's why I'm proud to endorse him for president. While most of our political leaders have dawdled or outright denied the climate crisis, we the people have faced its full effects," said Dan Weeks. "In New Hampshire, the Seacoast has been inundated by floods and rising seas. Our maple trees are migrating northward and moose are dying from an explosion in ticks. Pete’s plan brings the urgency we need to beat the odds on climate change before it’s too late by uniting our entire country — and world. This is exactly the kind of bold solution we need for our country, which is why I’m so proud to support Pete.”

Weeks' announcement comes in response to Pete’s innovative plan to bring Americans together to urgently address the threat of climate change and meet the greatest challenge of our time. Pete’s plan channels all of our energies into a national project—one that unifies every American, from big cities to rural communities, around this urgent threat and seizes the tremendous opportunity of a new era of climate action. Pete’s plan takes decisive action to eliminate greenhouse gas pollution and restore American leadership to put the world on a path to limit warming to 1.5°C. It builds coalitions across the country in urban and rural areas, all while creating new American jobs and exporting our climate innovations to the rest of the world. Read the full plan here.

State Representative Matt Wilhelm Endorses Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Citing His “Bold” National Service Plan

Manchester, N.H. — Today, State Representative Matt Wilhelm (Manchester), a two-term AmeriCorps alumnus and state service commissioner for Volunteer NH, is endorsing Mayor Pete Buttigieg for president.

Rep. Wilhelm — who grew up in Nashua and moved to Manchester after college to lead a team of City Year AmeriCorps members serving in high-need public schools — chose to endorse the Mayor after reviewing his national service plan. The Mayor’s proposal, called “A New Call to Service”, will fully fund the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act and then build a network of one million national service members by the 250th anniversary of America’s Independence in 2026.

“Last week, Mayor Pete issued a bold plan to dramatically expand voluntary national service in America,” said State Representative Matt Wilhelm. “As a state service commissioner with Volunteer NH and a two-term AmeriCorps alumnus, I’ve witnessed firsthand the power of civilian national service to unite diverse Americans and solve problems. I was particularly inspired by Mayor Pete’s commitment to building out regional service ecosystems and empowering our local leaders to create and expand service year positions to address NH-specific challenges like affordable housing, the opioid and mental health crises, and educational inequity.

Rep. Wilhelm will assist with Pete For America’s outreach in his district and to New Hampshire’s service community — and will advise the campaign on public policy issues in the Granite State. Rep. Wilhelm is the second state representative to publicly endorse Mayor Pete, following State Representative Cole Riel, who currently serves as a senior staff member on Pete For America’s New Hampshire team.

Mayor Pete will return to New Hampshire on Friday, July 12 to discuss his national service plan with New Hampshire voters.

ABOUT REPRESENTATIVE MATT WILHELM:

Rep. Matt Wilhelm is a nonprofit leader and member of the NH House of Representatives. He first moved to Manchester in 2005 to lead a team of City Year AmeriCorps members serving in high-need public schools and is currently helping to develop  two new civilian national service programs: Granite Service Scholars, which aims to build intergenerational relationships between students and seniors aging in place; and Concert Corps, which leverages the power of live music to create positive social and environmental impact through service. Rep. Wilhelm earned his master’s in public administration at UNH’s Carsey School of Public Policy and serves on the boards of Girls at Work, Inc. and Volunteer NH, the state commission for national and community service.

ABOUT “A NEW CALL TO SERVICE”:

“A New Call to Service” aims to vastly expand service opportunities through three key efforts:

    * Expanding Service Opportunities for All Who Want It: Immediately increase national service opportunities to 250,000 positions through the existing federal and AmeriCorps grantee organizations, especially targeting high school students; students at community colleges, vocational schools, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs); and opportunity youth (people between ages 16-24 who are neither in school nor working).

    * Building Service Communities: Create competitive grant funding for communities, cities, and regions to create service ecosystems tailored to regional and local issues, which will foster local capacity; empower local leaders to connect the federal, state, local, philanthropic services to each other; and incubate 21st century service models around regional issues to prevent siloed community service initiatives.

    * Achieving Service at Scale: By 2026, quadruple the number of service opportunities to 1 million high school graduates. Develop new service corps including a Climate Corps, Community Health Corps, and Intergenerational Service Corps, which would be overseen by a new Chief Service Officer with standing on the White House National Security Council and Domestic Policy Council.
