Cory Booker Earns Endorsement from Clark County Black Caucus

Las Vegas, NV -- Today, the Clark County Black Caucus (CCBC) announced their endorsement of Cory Booker for president. In their announcement CCBC cited Cory’s understanding of the struggles families face each day and highlighted that he’s consistently been a voice for Black Americans on the debate stage, in his policy platform, and in the media. CCBC also noted that Cory has expressed a thorough knowledge of root causes and well-thought out plans to address the inequities in society.  

“CCBC is proud to stand up for Senator Cory Booker in Nevada’s upcoming Caucus, a public servant that has time and again stood up for us,” said Yvette Williams, Caucus Chair.

“We are proud to receive the support of such a prominent advocacy organization in Nevada that has worked to advance issues that matter to Cory and our campaign,” said Cory 2020 Nevada State Director Phil Kim. “From civil rights to economic justice, CCBC has been at the forefront of addressing issues that impact the state’s African-American community. We look forward to working together and are honored to have them on our team.”

The Clark County Black Caucus was formed during the historic election of the first African American president -- Barack Obama. The CCBC has worked over the last decade to advance issues that impact the African American Community to engage their members in the political process and work together to be a voice for change.

Cory met with members of the Clark County Black Caucus during his third visit to the state and participated in an event hosted by the CCBC and BSU students at Cheyenne High School.

Following Breakout Debate Performance, Cory for Nevada Announces Over 20 New Precinct Captains for Cory Booker

Since the Debate Booker Raises Over $800,000, Has First and Second-Best Online Fundraising Days of Campaign

Las Vegas, NV -- In the 24 hours following Cory Booker’s standout performance on the Democratic debate stage in Atlanta, Cory for Nevada confirmed over twenty new precinct captains -- the latest sign of the campaign’s growing ground game and grassroots momentum. Since Cory’s closing statement at the debate, Cory 2020 has raised over $800,000, marking a sharp uptick in fundraising support.

“Since Cory’s debate performance, we’ve seen an outpouring of support from Nevadans across the state,” said Cory 2020 Nevada State Director Phil Kim. “Nevada is a caucus state and that means organizing at the grassroots level. These new precinct captains are committed and trained voices that will ensure Cory’s message of uniting people to get things done for those who have been left out and behind will be heard by thousands of caucus goers.”

“Wednesday night demonstrated to me that Cory has what it takes to unite our party and lead our country. He showed us that you can lead with compassion and conviction and I’m proud to take my support to the next level and commit to being a precinct captain for the caucus,” said Cat Brewer.

Booker has built a strong operation in Nevada with experienced state staff with deep community roots. Booker has earned the endorsement of over 70 community leaders including the former president of Reno-Sparks NAACP, Nevada Young Dems President, AAPI leaders, immigration activists and local grassroots volunteers.

RELEASE: Former North Las Vegas City Councilman and Retired Educator Endorse Cory Booker for President

Cory Earns Support of North Las Vegas Community Leaders Theron and Naomi Goynes

Las Vegas, NV -- Today, former city councilman and mayor pro tem of North Las Vegas Theron Goynes and retired educator Naomi Goynes announced their endorsement of Cory Booker for president.

“We are proud to fully put our support behind Cory Booker for president because we know that he will fight for communities like ours in North Las Vegas - a city still recovering from the Great Recession,” stated Theron Goynes, former councilman and mayor pro tem of North Las Vegas, and Naomi Goynes, retired educator. “Cory has a deep and unique understanding of the issues critical to the Black community - from the housing discrimination that his parents faced to the gun violence that sadly still afflicts his neighborhood in Newark. Senator Booker has demonstrated his ability to lead and bring people together while he was Mayor of Newark as he helped bring the city out of an economic crisis and in the U.S. Senate where he was instrumental in the passage of comprehensive criminal justice reform. We know that Cory Booker is the candidate who will unite and heal this country.”

Theron and Naomi Goynes are longtime leaders in the North Las Vegas community and strong education advocates. Mr. Goynes is a U.S. Air Force veteran and spent twenty years on the North Las Vegas City Council, twelve of them as Mayor Pro Tem. During his career in Clark County, Mr. Goynes served as a teacher, counselor, adult education coordinator, assistant principal and principal. Mrs. Goynes served as a kindergarten teacher, reading specialist, dean of students and junior high school assistant principal.

Former NAACP President of Reno-Sparks Endorses Cory Booker for President

Reno, NV -- Today, Cory for Nevada announced that Patricia Gallimore, former president of the Reno-Sparks NAACP endorsed Cory Booker for President. 

“Now more than ever we need someone who will speak truth to power, who will fight for our communities and who can bring our country together -- and Cory Booker has shown us he will do just that,” said Patricia Gallimore. “As someone who has been fighting on the frontlines of criminal justice reform, I’m deeply inspired by Cory’s work and commitment to bring justice for all. Cory has the core values for being a leader and a president for the people. Those values are what's needed to be a good president of the United States of America and I'm proud to support Cory." 

Gallimore is a longtime advocate for civil rights and criminal justice, and a respected community leader who also serves as the president of the CWA Retirees, vice president for Nevada Alliance of Retired Americans and the secretary for Democratic Women of Washoe County. Gallimore also serves on the boards for Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada (PLAN) and Northern Nevada HOPES. Gallimore is endorsing in her personal capacity and does not reflect the views of the non-partisan organizations above.

Gallimore introduced Cory at a campaign event earlier this year in Washoe County and joins a growing list of prominent community leaders supporting Cory's campaign in Nevada.

Cory has been a leader on criminal justice reform and has made it a focus of his campaign. Earlier this month, Cory was the first presidential candidate to visit a state prison when he toured Florence McClure Women's Correctional Center in Las Vegas and discussed his criminal justice reform plan. Cory met with incarcerated women who participate in HOPE for Prisoners and College of Southern Nevada's education program that helps inmates reintegrate into the workforce.

Earlier today, Cory 2020 announced that Cory Booker has met the requirements set by the DNC to participate in the third and fourth Democratic primary debates. Booker was the sixth Democratic presidential candidate to reach the required polling threshold for the fall DNC debates. Now, in surpassing the second requirement of 130,000 individual campaign donors, he has secured a spot on the fall debate stages.
