FORMER NFL LINEBACKER, ENTREPRENEUR, AND PHILANTHROPIST DHANI JONES ENDORSES MIKE BLOOMBERG FOR PRESIDENT

DETROIT  Former NFL Linebacker, entrepreneur and philanthropist Dhani Jones today endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg, lauding Mike’s agenda to create jobs and bring economic opportunity to people and communities not benefiting from the nation’s growth and prosperity, as well as his strategy to support small businesses and entrepreneurship.

“The American dream is possible with the right partners. I am proud to endorse Mike Bloomberg for President because he embodies the entrepreneurial spirit and innovative thinking the country needs and deserves to have as their partner,” said Dhani Jones. “During his time as Mayor, Mike demonstrated a commitment to creating jobs and supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses by creating programs like New York City’s Department of Small Business Services. He’s a leader who cares about the economic interests of all Americans, and I am confident his policy platform will invest in all of America and help underserved communities come off the sidelines and get back in the game.”

“I know from experience how hard it is to start and grow a business  but Dhani Jones makes it look easy. He's a talented entrepreneur who has started several successful ventures in Cincinnati, while also giving back to good causes and helping to strengthen entrepreneurs across the country,” said Mike Bloomberg. “He's my kind of leader – someone who leads by doing, and who works to expand opportunity for others – and I'm honored to have his support.”

At the University of Michigan, Jones was a three time All-Big Ten honoree. He later joined the NFL playing with the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints, and Cincinnati Bengals. After retiring from the NFL, he founded BowTie Cause, a small business and philanthropic endeavor to design signature bow ties to increase awareness of organizations around the country. He is involved in several business ventures, authored his own memoir and is the co-founder of Petram Data which is aimed at helping businesses adapt to the evolution of marketing.

SAN FRANCISCO MAYOR LONDON BREED ENDORSES MIKE BLOOMBERG FOR PRESIDENT

Mayor Breed will also serve as the first Chair of African Americans for Mike

SAN FRANCISCO —  Today, Mike Bloomberg 2020 announced that San Francisco Mayor London Breed – the 45th Mayor of San Francisco and the first African American woman mayor in the city’s history – has endorsed Mike Bloomberg for President. Mayor Breed will also serve as the first Chair of African Americans for Mike with others joining Mayor Breed as Co-Chairs soon.

Mayor Breed has been an important leader in the fight to create a more equitable and just San Francisco for all. She is endorsing Mike because of his detailed policy proposals on jobs, climate, and closing the wealth gap, as well as his track record as the Mayor of New York City.

Mayor Breed released the following statement:

“In a field of strong Democratic candidates, I am proud to support Mayor Mike Bloomberg for President, and I am doing so for three main reasons:

“First, Mike is a pragmatic leader who is committed to improving the nation’s cities, and has a track record of actually doing it. His efforts to fight climate change, make local governments more effective and efficient, tackle homelessness, and improve public health are making a real difference, and I believe he’ll bring this kind of leadership to the presidency.

“Second, Mike is the only candidate for president who has a fully articulated plan to improve the lives of African Americans. The recently announced Greenwood Initiative provides an actual roadmap to create generational wealth and economic empowerment for Black Americans. By boosting home ownership, doubling the number of Black-owned businesses, and investing $70 billion in the nation’s most distressed communities, this plan could be transformative for the lives of Black Americans and our nation as a whole.

“Finally, I am supporting Mike because he has the best chance of beating Donald Trump, and ending this administration’s assault on the poor, on communities of color, on women, on the Constitution, and on common decency. Mike is all in, and so am I.”

Since becoming Mayor, Breed has focused on helping the city’s homeless population into care and shelter, and is on target to open 1,000 new shelter beds by the end of this year. In 2018, the City helped 2,146 people exit homelessness – more than any prior year. To make San Francisco more affordable in a time of increased housing costs, she is focused on adding more housing for low-and middle-income residents by streamlining bureaucracy and cutting permitting times while also investing in affordable housing, including moving forward a $600 million affordable housing bond. She also shares Mike’s commitment to fight climate change and has championed ambitious environmental goals, including transitioning to 100% renewable energy by 2030.

"Voters re-elected London Breed by a wide margin because she is taking on the biggest and toughest issues  and she puts progress over politics," said Mike Bloomberg. "I'm honored to have her support and look forward to working with her not only to win this election, but to help make San Francisco and all of California stronger, fairer, and greener – with more affordable housing, more good jobs, and health care for all."

Mayor Breed took office in a special election to replace Mayor Ed Lee in 2018, and was elected to her first full term in 2019 winning 70% of the vote. Prior to Breed’s time as mayor, she was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 2012, and elected its president in 2015. Breed was raised by her grandmother in Plaza East public housing in the Western Addition neighborhood of San Francisco. Breed graduated from the University of California, Davis and earned a master's degree in public administration from the University of San Francisco in 2012.

ELEVEN MAYORS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY ENDORSE MIKE BLOOMBERG FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

Groundswell of Mayoral Support Continues to Build, Totaling 20 Mayors Nationwide

WASHINGTON —

Eleven mayors from across the United States today endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg, saying he is the candidate with the executive leadership, record, and vision to unite the country and rebuild America. Mike has now been endorsed by 20 mayors across America.

“We are honored to have the support of so many mayors across the country,” said Mike Bloomberg 2020 Campaign Manager Kevin Sheekey. “These local leaders solve problems and deliver results for their communities on a daily basis. Mayors know Mike did the same thing in New York City for twelve years. And they know he will bring that innovative approach to the White House to get things done for the American people.”

The mayors endorsing today hail from Arkansas, California, New Mexico, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Today, Mike will address more than 270 mayors from across the country at the U.S. Conference of Mayors 88th Winter Meeting in Washington, DC. He will share his progressive vision for the future, including his plan to bring America’s infrastructure into the 21st century

ARKANSAS

West Memphis Mayor Marco McClendon

“As Mayor of West Memphis, my top priorities include bringing economic opportunities to this city for our people, public safety, creating a quality school system, a cleaner city, and investing in a bright future for our children. The vision Mike Bloomberg has for our nation ties into the work we're already doing and would like to expand on. I believe in Mike because he's done it. As an entrepreneur, three-term mayor of New York, job creator and problem solver, Mike has long been focused on ensuring that every American has a chance at the American dream. I am fully invested in the growth and success of West Memphis and know our city is a corridor of opportunity. I encourage the citizens on this side of the Mississippi to review Mike's policies - from healthcare to housing, voter access to empowerment, infrastructure to criminal justice reform - he will get it done.”

CALIFORNIA

Chula Vista Mayor Mary Casillas Salas

“After years of turmoil and instability in the White House, we need a leader who will focus on the issues that matter the most in our communities, like combating climate change, keeping us safe from gun violence and creating an economy that works for all. Mike Bloomberg has the experience needed to bring people together and rebuild our country.”

Coronado Mayor Pro Tempore Whitney Benzian

“We are in a unique and critical moment in the nation's history, and leadership from the White House is more important than ever to ensure a bright future for generations to come by tackling climate change, gun violence and building an economy that works for all. Mike Bloomberg uniquely has a record of bringing people together and getting things done. Mike has taken on many of our biggest fights, and won.”

Imperial Beach Mayor Serge Dedina

"When it comes to protecting our environment, one candidate is far ahead of the pack: Mike Bloomberg. What differentiates Bloomberg from the Democratic pack is twofold: his environmental plan is detailed and it’s doable. The environment clearly isn’t just another issue for Bloomberg, one that he needs to talk about because everyone else is. When it comes to climate, Bloomberg found his voice years ago and is a global leader in his own right. His proven record on fighting climate change is exactly the leadership we need in the White House."

Moreno Valley Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez

“Mike’s record of accomplishment and getting things done is unmatched by any candidate in the race, which is why I am proud to endorse him for president. He is a problem-solver and a doer, not a talker, with an outstanding record of accomplishment on the issues that matter most in California, such as the environment, the economy and education. We need strong leadership from the White House to help rebuild trust in our country, and there is no better candidate to get it done than Mike Bloomberg.”

Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey

“As a Mayor, I know that the people who we serve don't care about party labels and partisan bickering. They expect results - and they expect us to deliver, each and every day. That's what public service is all about, and it's time we had a president who believed that too. I'm supporting Mayor Bloomberg for president because he's shown us again and again that his first priority is delivering for the people.”

NEW MEXICO

Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima

“More than ever, we need leaders in Washington who will hit the ground running on Day One. The challenges facing our country - from climate change to skyrocketing health care costs to rebuilding trust with our border communities - are too great for someone to learn on the job. For us who live on the border, we see every day the impact of Washington’s failure to find common ground. Mike has shown us time and again that he is an executive who can deliver results. We need that leadership today.”

Santa Fe Mayor Alan Webber

"Mike is the only Democratic candidate who can defeat Donald Trump. His record of accomplishment is unmatched. He takes on big issues – like climate change – and gets things done. He will win – and he will be a great president who brings us back together."

NEW YORK

Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy

“Mike Bloomberg is a problem solver who will address the real challenges we face as a nation. At a time of great division in our country, we need a president with a proven track record of bringing people together and getting things done. From his global leadership on climate change, to improving gun safety, to creating jobs and increasing economic growth, Mike understands the need for data-driven policies that will move our country forward and strengthen middle class families. I am proud to endorse Mike Bloomberg for president of the United States.”

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano

“When it comes to supporting our communities, I know Mike Bloomberg will get it done. Americans need a candidate who recognizes their potential and Mike has an all-in economy plan that will give them the opportunity to thrive in good local jobs. As president, Mike will prioritize modernizing job training to provide valuable skills needed for income growth. We need that investment in every corner of the country and I know Mike is the candidate that will put America to work.”

PENNSYLVANIA

Media Mayor Bob McMahon

“I’ve seen Mike’s ability to make progress on tough issues through our work together with Mayors Against Illegal Guns. He has a proven track record of taking on big fights, like gun safety and climate change, and I know he will bring that same fight to the White House. He is the only candidate who can bring our country together.”

ILLINOIS CONGRESSMAN AND CONGRESSIONAL BLACK CAUCUS MEMBER BOBBY L. RUSH ENDORSES MIKE BLOOMBERG, SAYING HE WILL BE A ‘TERRIFIC PRESIDENT WHO GETS THE JOB DONE’

Rush Named National Co-Chair for the Mike Bloomberg 2020 Presidential Campaign

CHICAGO  Today, Democratic Illinois Congressman and a senior member of the Congressional Black Caucus Bobby L. Rush endorsed Mike Bloomberg for president, touting his executive and government experience as what is needed to unite the country and defeat Donald Trump.

Rush said he was frustrated with the current administration and said America needs a calm, measured, and experienced leader who isn’t going to have to learn how to govern on the job. He praised Mike’s success in business and government, and said that every American would benefit from his  level-headed approach, experience, and honesty.

“Mike gets it, he instinctively understands that economic opportunity — economic equity — has been and for far too long, ignored for African-Americans,” Rush said.  “He alone, among the current Democratic candidates, has been the clearest, the most focused, and the most reasonable voice for addressing the depressed state of the African-American economy.  His Greenwood Initiative is not only inspirational, it's practical and it's doable.”

The Mike Bloomberg 2020 campaign also announced that Rush would be named a National Campaign Co-Chair, and advise the campaign on a number of key political and policy issues.

“Congressman Bobby Rush has dedicated his life to building a more open, inclusive, equitable, just and prosperous America -- as a civil rights activist, pastor, and leader in Congress, where he has been a force for change on issues we both feel passionately about, including health care, gun violence, and poverty," said Mike Bloomberg. "I'm honored to have his support - and as our campaign continues to build momentum, we will benefit from the wisdom and advice he will offer as a National Co-Chair of our campaign.”

Rush’s work reflects a deep determination to bend the arc of government resources and innovation towards the needs of every American — whether they live on our nation’s main streets or its side streets.  Rush fights every day for his constituents; to improve their lives, grow the economy, bring jobs to his district, and build a stronger middle class.

Rush is an American politician, activist, ordained minister, and the U.S. Representative for the 1st congressional district of Illinois. He is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army. He has served in Congress for more than two decades. He was also a civil rights activist during the 1960s. He endorsed Barack Obama for president in 2008.

ACADEMY AWARD WINNER AND HUMANITARIAN MICHAEL DOUGLAS ENDORSES MIKE BLOOMBERG, SAYING HE WILL BE A ‘TERRIFIC PRESIDENT WHO GETS THE JOB DONE’

LOS ANGELES — Today, Academy Award winning actor Michael Douglas endorsed Mike Bloomberg for president, touting his executive and government experience as what is needed to unite the country and defeat Donald Trump.

Douglas expressed frustration with the current administration and said America needs a calm, measured, thoughtful and experienced leader who isn’t going to have to learn how to govern on the job. He cited Mike’s success in business and government, and that every American would benefit from his smarts, level-headed approach, and honesty.

"We need a sane and steady leader in the White House who will restore the dignity of the Oval Office and fix our broken government. Mike Bloomberg will get it done,” said Michael Douglas. “His record in government and business speaks for itself. And he's championed the issues that matter most to Americans — fighting climate change, promoting public health and strong healthcare, taking on the NRA and creating good jobs.”

"Michael Douglas is more than an award-winning actor and producer -- he's a citizen activist who has supported common-sense gun safety laws and worked to promote international peace and security," said Mike Bloomberg. "I admire his work to make our world a better place, and I'm honored to have his support for our campaign."

Douglas played Democratic President Andrew Shepherd in the 1995 film The American President. Off the screen, he is also a Democrat.

Douglas is an American actor and producer. He has received many awards, including two Academy Awards (Best Actor for Wall Street, 1987, and Best Picture for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, 1975), five Golden Globes, a Primetime Emmy, and the AFI Life Achievement Award.

He also became a UN Messenger of Peace in 1998 and uses his position to raise public awareness against nuclear proliferation. He also supports stronger gun safety laws.

FORMER MIAMI MAYOR MANNY DIAZ NAMED POLITICAL CO-CHAIR FOR MIKE BLOOMBERG’S 2020 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN

Diaz will also serve as Florida Co-Chair

MIAMI, FLORIDA  Today, Mike Bloomberg 2020 announced that Manny Diaz, former Mayor of the City of Miami, has been named National Political Co-Chair and Florida Co-Chair for the campaign. Diaz served as the Mayor of Miami for two terms from 2001-2009 and led the U.S. Conference of Mayors as President in 2008.

“I came to the United States when I was six-years old, on a freedom flight, sitting on my mother’s lap. My mother, as many did before her, came to America searching for freedom and a better life because she saw this country as a beacon for hope and a land of boundless opportunity. At every turn of my life, especially in my youth, I benefited from a partnership with a government willing to invest in me,” said former Mayor Manny Diaz. “Today, I question whether America is still willing to invest in people and provide the same access to opportunity to all. We need leaders who can blend vision, reason, and courage and commit to the ideals of a just and a fair society; leaders who dream of a better life for all Americans. Mike is that person, and his leadership is exactly what this country needs because he believes in that promise of America where everyone has access to the American Dream.”

Joining former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter as National Political Co-Chair, Diaz will advise the campaign on policy development and strategy. Diaz will also serve as a national surrogate on behalf of the campaign, encouraging others to join the campaign and traveling to field offices and events to share with voters why he believes Mike Bloomberg is uniquely qualified to make our country stronger, safer, and more resilient as President of the United States.

“I admired Manny’s innovative work as the mayor of Miami, and we had the chance to work together on a number of big issues, including gun violence and climate change,” said Mike. “He was an early member of our national coalition of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, and he has remained a good friend. He and I share a common-sense approach to policy and government, and we're honored to have him become part of our campaign leadership team.”

During his two-term tenure as Mayor, Diaz was recognized for transforming the City of Miami and launching nationally innovative programs in urban design, sustainability, and education - all of which are cornerstone issues of the Bloomberg campaign. Under his leadership, Diaz developed a vision for Miami as an international city that embodies diversity, economic opportunity, effective customer service, and excellent quality of life.

Diaz serves on a number of boards including Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government, Institute of Politics Senior Advisory Committee, and University of Pennsylvania Institute for Urban Research, and is also a former member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Advisory Council.

In recognition of his leadership, Diaz has received almost 100 awards including, The Center for Public Leadership at the Kennedy School of Government and the Urban Innovator of the Year by the Manhattan Institute. Diaz served as a Resident Fellow at Harvard’s Institute of Politics, and is the author of Miami Transformed: Rebuilding America One Neighborhood, One City at a Time.

Diaz received his B.A. in Political Science from Florida International University, and his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law.

Geoffrey Canada, Founder of the Harlem Children's Zone and a National Leader in Education Reform, Endorses Mike Bloomberg for President

NEW YORK — Geoffrey Canada, Founder of the Harlem Children's Zone and a national leader in education reform, today announced his endorsement of Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg, praising his plan to address racial disparities in our present-day systems as well as his commitment to creating opportunities for future generations of African Americans.

Having worked with the Harlem Children’s Zone for more than 30 years, Canada is globally renowned for his pioneering work helping children and families in Harlem, and as a thought leader and passionate advocate for education reform. Canada is also known for his "whatever it takes" approach to helping kids.

"Geoff is one of the most innovative and dynamic educators in the country, and his pioneering work has made an incredible difference for thousands of young lives. I was glad to work closely with him as mayor, and I'm honored to have his support in this campaign," said Mike Bloomberg. "Geoff and I have always shared the belief that if we set high expectations, and provide students with great teachers and strong support, they will reach them. As president, I will work to ensure that students in every zip code get a top-quality education and learn the skills they need to succeed in college and careers."

“If we're going to close the opportunity gaps for Black Americans, we need a president who offers real accountability and an actionable plan to address these disparities head on,” Geoffrey Canada said. “I’m proud to endorse Mike Bloomberg for his commitment to ending this enduring legacy of discrimination by removing fundamental barriers that have inhibited African American communities from participating in our society and reaching their full potential.”

The endorsement comes as Mike Bloomberg delivered a speech in Tulsa, Oklahoma in which he outlined a bold agenda to address systematic and long-standing barriers faced by the African American community. Mike believes that the American government can right the wrongs of the past, and by doing so, will also bring economic success to the nation as a whole. Racial inequality depresses overall economic growth, with estimates suggesting that GDP could be up to 6 percent higher by 2028 if the racial wealth gap were closed. Mike will unleash efforts to increase access to capital, support for entrepreneurship, the capacity to become homeowners, and incentives and support to increase investment in neighborhoods.

Canada is an American educator, social activist and author. Since 1990, Canada served as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer for the Harlem Children’s Zone. As of July 1, 2014, Mr. Canada stepped down as CEO, and continues to serve as Founder of the HCZ and Promise Academy Boards. Canada earned his B.A. degree in psychology and sociology from Bowdoin College and an M.S. education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Canada has authored two books and is also an advisor to and board member of several nonprofit organizations.

Geoffrey Canada is the Founder of the Harlem Children’s Zone. He represents himself and is not representing the views of the Harlem Child Zone, which does not endorse any candidates for public office. He has endorsed Mike Bloomberg for president.

Award Winning Actor and Environmentalist Sam Waterston Endorses Mike Bloomberg, Saying He Is the “Best Chance We Have to Solve Climate Change”

LOS ANGELES  Today, award-winning actor and environmentalist Sam Waterston endorsed Mike Bloomberg for president, touting Mike’s record of leadership in fighting climate change and his commitment to prioritize climate action as president.

“I believe Mike Bloomberg is the best chance we have to solve climate change,” said Sam Waterston. “For a long time, it’s been central to Mayor Bloomberg’s work in the world, from what he focuses on himself, to what he did as Mayor of New York, to where he directs the efforts of his very effective foundation, it’s central to his campaign for president. I’m honored to be able to vouch for his leadership and this crucial work, along with millions of New Yorkers and large numbers of environmental activists who have seen Mike Bloomberg’s engagement and effectiveness in countering climate disruption and protecting and repairing the life of our oceans with my own eyes. Under his tenure as mayor, New York City became the city people wanted to live in — what a difference he would make as president.”

Waterston has long expressed deep concerns about the state of the environment under the Trump administration.

“President Trump, by his climate denial, false claims about fossil fuels, and reckless deregulation, is himself a threat to the environment. Big interests back him. Running against him won’t be easy,” Waterston said.“This is just the kind of situation Mayor Bloomberg seems to relish, maybe because he’s so good at dealing with them: walking toward troubles, taking them on, and bringing people together to solve the problem.”

Waterston will be appearing in campaign ads across the country on digital channels.

"Sam Waterston has millions of fans, including me — and not just for his award-winning work on the stage and screen. Sam is a devoted environmentalist who knows how urgent it is that we take action to protect our planet," said Mike Bloomberg. "I've admired his advocacy for a long time, and I'm very grateful for his support of climate action and our campaign."

Waterston is an actor, producer, and director best known for his role as Jack McCoy on Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit from 1994 to 2010, for which he won Golden Globe Screen Actors Guild awards. He earned an Academy Award nomination for his role in The Killing Fields in 1984. Waterston received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010 and was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 2012.

Waterston is on the board of directors of Oceana, an international organization focused on protecting the world’s oceans. He has a long record of supporting environmental issues.

Congressman Harley Rouda Endorses Mike Bloomberg for President

Orange County Congressman Who Flipped Deep Red Seat is Third U.S. Representative to Endorse Bloomberg

NEW YORK, NEW YORK —
U.S. Representative Harley Rouda (CA-48) endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg today, praising Mike’s proven record on issues that matter to Californians, citing his work fighting climate change and leadership on the economy.

“Washington’s been a disaster for decades, but 2020 is a year when all the problems our leaders have failed to solve over the years are coming to a head.  And the fact is, we’re never getting out of this mess until we have leadership that can actually bring people together, no matter where they’re from or what party they belong to, and unite them behind the values we all share. That’s second nature to someone who’s run a business, but it’s like speaking a foreign language in DC. That is why I am endorsing Mike Bloomberg for president,” said Congressman Harley Rouda. “Mike Bloomberg is an incredible leader. He’s a legendary businessman who also ran one of the nation’s largest and most complex cities, a city with a population larger than 39 states. He’s met payrolls, knows how to balance budgets, and understands the intricacies of our economy. Like myself, Mike Bloomberg believes in smart capitalism coupled with good government. He has the ability to not only beat Donald Trump but, more importantly, to bring our country together, and restore America to its place as the leader of the free world.”

“I was proud to support Harley Rouda in his first-time bid for Congress, when he was part of a wave of community leaders who understood the urgency of the moment and stepped up fight to bring balance to our national politics and rebuild the damage that has been done by the Trump administration by committing to public service,” said Mike Bloomberg. “I am honored to have him as part of our team as we work to ensure that every Californian understands my campaign’s vision on issues we know matter most to the state, such as strengthening our economy and protecting our environment.”

Congressman Rouda represents CA-48, a district that he flipped blue in 2018 for the first time in the district’s history. Prior to serving in Congress, Congressman Rouda was a business owner and entrepreneur.

Florida Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy Endorses Mike Bloomberg for President, Is Named Co-Chair of 2020 Campaign

Stephanie Murphy is the Second Member of Congress to Endorse Bloomberg for President

ORLANDO, FLORIDA  U.S. Representative Stephanie Murphy (FL-7) announced her support for Democratic Presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg today, praising Mike’s commitment to combating gun violence, fixing the country’s broken immigration system, and fighting climate change.

Congresswoman Murphy was also named a national co-chair for the Bloomberg campaign, where she will partner with and advise the campaign on a variety of issues and policies including foreign policy, equal rights, gun reform, good government and immigration, and serve as a national surrogate.

“Congresswoman Murphy understands that the dysfunction in Washington is holding our country back and has dedicated her time in office to standing up for American values and ideals  and I'm honored to have her support,” said Mike Bloomberg. “We share a vision for breaking the gridlock in Congress, ensuring the safety of all Americans and giving them a larger voice in our future. After the Pulse nightclub shooting, she ran for office to bring change to Washington, including common sense gun laws – and as president, I will work closely with her to get it done."

“As an immigrant and refugee, I know my story could only happen here in America, and I’m so grateful for the opportunities that allowed my family and me to pursue the American dream. Unfortunately, President Trump and his administration are denying future generations these same opportunities,” said Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy. “I got into politics to change the way Washington works and help put an end to gun violence. I am excited to endorse Mayor Bloomberg for President because he has a plan to keep our nation safe, restore American values, and get our government serving its people again. He will take on the big fights, like gun violence and climate change, and is the most experienced and visionary candidate in this race.”

Congresswoman Murphy was the first Vietnamese-American woman to be elected to Congress in 2016, and has prioritized a number of key issues including jobs, LGBTQ rights, common sense gun reform, and security and opportunity for every American. Before becoming a Congresswoman, Murphy was a businesswoman and college instructor after serving as a national security specialist in the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Defense, where she received numerous awards for her distinguished service, including the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Civilian Service. She worked on a wide range of security issues from counterterrorism to foreign military relations to strategic planning for the Department. Murphy serves as co-chair of the Blue Dog Coalition, an influential group of pragmatic Democrats who believe in fiscal responsibility and a strong national security. Congressman Max Rose Endorses Mike Bloomberg for President

U.S. Army Veteran Max Rose is the First Member of Congress to Endorse Bloomberg for President

NEW YORK, NEW YORK  U.S. Representative Max Rose (NY-11) endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg today, praising Mike’s dedication to working America and his ability to put New York City back on track in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

“The city Mike Bloomberg inherited in 2002 was reeling from the worst terrorist attack in American history and facing economic recession. There were real fears nothing would ever feel or be the same again. Mike Bloomberg took the reins, brought New York City back to life and put us on track to lead in the 21st century,” said Congressman Max Rose. “Mayor Bloomberg’s even keeled and visionary leadership is what we need to reduce the chaos, partisanship and hyper-vitriol that has overtaken Washington. Rather than submit to another stage of politics as usual, we must be bold and unifying in taking on the huge challenges we face as a nation. We need to root out corruption so we can put the economy back on the side of working people, fix our crumbling infrastructure, lower prescription drug costs and end the opioid epidemic. Mike Bloomberg has taken on tough fights and gotten results, which is why I believe he is the best candidate for my district, my city, and for our country.”

"Max Rose understands what public service is all about: working for the people, not a political party, lobbyists, or your own self-interest," said Mike Bloomberg. "Max knows that the people of Staten Island and South Brooklyn sent him to Congress to get stuff done on critical issues  from tackling the opioid epidemic to ensuring the passage of the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund  and his efforts to work across the aisle are exactly what we need more of in Washington. He's a patriot who served with distinction in the Army, and he continues to serve our country with distinction  and I'm honored to have his endorsement."

Congressman Rose, a United States Army veteran and the first post-9/11 combat veteran of the war in Afghanistan to represent New York City, is also the first member of Congress to endorse Mayor Bloomberg for president.

Judge Judy Endorses Mike Bloomberg, Saying He Will be a ‘Truly Great President’

New TV Ad Released Today Features Judge Judy Saying: ‘No One Comes Close to Mike Bloomberg’s Executive Achievement, Government Experience and Impactful Philanthropy’

New York, New York — Today, Judge Judy Sheindlin, in a new TV ad, endorses Mike Bloomberg for president, touting his executive and government experience as what is needed to unite the country and lead us through challenging times.

“I like to say you can judge someone’s character by what they’ve done. Mike Bloomberg has done amazing things and will be a truly great president,” said Sheindlin, whose highly-rated TV program is celebrating 24 years on air this year. “No one comes close to Mike Bloomberg’s executive achievement, government experience and impactful philanthropy.”

The “Judge Him” ad featuring the popular TV judge will be running across digital channels and in relevant broadcast programming across 26 states.

Sheindlin, who has never before endorsed a presidential candidate, was outspoken in her support of Mike even before he decided to run, having penned an op-ed in USA Today urging him to seek the presidency and pledging support for his campaign.

“We’re hopelessly divided, and a bitterly divided family cannot thrive. The only way we can begin to come together again, I said, is if Michael Bloomberg, former mayor of New York City, becomes our next president,” said Sheindlin in her piece. “I realize I am taking a personal and a career risk in making such a statement. I have carefully stayed away from politics for 50 years, except to vote. But times have changed in our country, and I believe the moment has come for me to step out from behind the curtain.”

A native of New York City, Judge Sheindlin is the former Supervising Judge of the Family Court in New York County, the author of five books and the founder of Her Honor Mentoring, now in its 13th year.

Steve Bellone, Suffolk County Executive, Endorses Mike Bloomberg for President of the United States

Bellone is First County Executive in New York State to Endorse Bloomberg

New York - December 16, 2019 - Today, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announced his support of Mike Bloomberg for President. Bellone is the first county executive in New York state to endorse Bloomberg. In a statement, he said:

“I am proud to endorse Mike Bloomberg for President because our country needs to get back in the business of getting things done. As the mayor of the largest city in the country, Mike earned a reputation as a problem solver who took on the tough fights -- and won. This moment in our nation calls for a leader who can bring people together to address the real challenges we face here at home and abroad. We need someone who can win key suburban counties like Suffolk County that swung from Obama to Trump. Mike is the best candidate to lead our country forward.”

Steve Bellone was first elected Suffolk County Executive in 2011 and represents nearly 1.5 million residents in the largest county in New York State. As a leader, Bellone has made historic progress in reforming government, protecting water quality, and helping make Suffolk one of the safest places to live across the country.

Bellone has embarked on a bold agenda to make county government more efficient by implementing innovative solutions that deliver more with less. Among his many accomplishments include spearheading the launch of Suffolk311, a non-emergency government and information services center inspired by the initiative that Mike Bloomberg first developed during his time as Mayor in New York City to better provide city services and information to residents across the five boroughs.

Bellone has also become a statewide environmental leader due to his work with improving water quality and coastal resiliency. In the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, he led the effort to establish the Suffolk County Coastal Resiliency Initiative. The initiative helped secure hundreds of millions of dollars in federal and state grant funding to connect thousands of parcels to sewers. The actions help reduce nitrogen pollution that damages natural coastal defenses against severe storms and flooding. Today, it is the largest sewer infrastructure project in Suffolk County since the 1980s and the most substantial investment in water quality infrastructure for the Long Island region in a generation. Also, Bellone launched the first-of-its-kind program in New York State to help homeowners afford to install advanced wastewater systems that reduce nitrogen pollution. Thanks to Bellone’s leadership, Suffolk County has also been designated as a climate-smart community by New York State and nationally recognized for its policies that encourage solar use and installation.

Bellone is a graduate of North Babylon High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Queens College in 1991. He enlisted in the US Army in 1992 and served as a communications specialist stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. While in the Army, he was awarded commendations for meritorious service and earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration by attending night classes at Webster University. Bellone earned his Juris Doctorate from Fordham University and was admitted to the New York Bar in 1999.

San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo Endorses Mike Bloomberg, Is Named California Co-Chair of 2020 Campaign

Mayor Liccardo Will Provide Strategic and Policy Counsel to Campaign

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – Today, Mike Bloomberg 2020 announced that San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo will serve as California co-chair of the campaign. Liccardo will advise the Bloomberg campaign on strategy, policy, and serve as a surrogate. Additional California co-chairs will be announced in the coming weeks.

Mayor Liccardo has been an important leader nationally in battling climate change, an issue that Bloomberg has made one of the cornerstones of his campaign, and that will be one of his top priorities as President. Under Liccardo’s focused leadership, San Jose became the largest US city to launch a community choice energy program that has boosted the share of clean energy sources for San Jose’s electricity to 80%. Under Mayor Liccardo’s visionary leadership, San Jose became the largest US city to require all-electric construction of all new residential and municipal buildings. Amid the greatest economic expansion in San Jose history, Liccardo led historic efforts to preserve thousands of acres of open space and hillsides against development. He’s spearheaded bold efforts to expand economic opportunity in San Jose, in 2016 leading a regional increase of the minimum wage to $15 per hour. He launched programs to eliminate financial barriers to college for 1,600 low-income students, to engage more than 4,000 teenagers in gang-impacted neighborhoods in summer jobs, to open coding camps to more than 7,000 public school students, and to bridge the digital divide for thousands of low-income families with the nation’s first privately financed digital inclusion initiative. He’s become a trusted voice among his peers, recently galvanizing dozens of California mayors in a proposal for a customer buyout of the bankrupt Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) utility.

“Mayor Liccardo has been a leader on a number of critical issues, especially climate, which Mike has made one of his top priorities for this campaign,” said Kevin Sheekey, Campaign Manager for Mike 2020. “We’re playing to win and California will be an important part of our success. We’re thrilled to have Mayor Liccardo as part of the team.”

“Mayors don’t have the luxury of hyperpartisan tongue-wagging,” said Mayor Liccardo, “they have to solve problems and get things done. I’m supporting Mike Bloomberg because as mayor of the nation’s largest, most diverse, and most complex city, Mike solved problems  — to reduce poverty, expand jobs, cut gun violence, improve public health, and build affordable housing. As President, Mike Bloomberg will bring his courageous, innovative, and pragmatic leadership to our nation’s great challenges, to do what’s right and make tough decisions regardless of what he might hear from the powerful, the pundits, or the polls.”

Mayor Sam Liccardo took office in 2015, and was reelected in 2018 with 76% of the vote.  Prior to Liccardo’s time as an elected official, he prosecuted sexual assaults and other felony cases as a criminal prosecutor.

Liccardo serves on a number of boards, including the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and the Valley Transit Authority, where he has led efforts to fund and construct a “ring of rail” around the Bay Area, by connecting the BART and CalTrain transit systems in Downtown San Jose. He serves as co-chair for Joint Venture Silicon Valley, is a senior fellow for the American Leadership Forum-Silicon Valley, and is a Rodel Fellow at the Aspen Institute.

Liccardo graduated from Georgetown University, received a law degree from Harvard Law School, and a master’s degree from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Four Mayors Across the Country Endorse Mike Bloomberg for President

Mayor Hardie Davis, Jr. and Bloomberg met in Augusta Today

AUGUSTA, GA. – Today, Mayors for Mike announced that the mayors of Augusta, Georgia; Gary, Indiana; Tacoma, Washington and Huntington, West Virginia all are endorsing Mike Bloomberg for President, reflecting a range of communities across the country. Bloomberg’s national campaign seeks to reach Americans in states not frequently visited by other Democratic candidates.

Mayor Hardie Davis, Jr. of Augusta, Georgia: “The tone in Washington is toxic and it’s spreading across the country. Mike Bloomberg is a refreshing leader, a unifier, who understands that we have more in common than what divides us. Mike Bloomberg is a leader who is not afraid of tough issues and challenging conversations. He creates coalitions and builds bridges to establish lasting, common-sense solutions that work. That’s what we need in local, state and federal government. We need a strong, proven leader in the White House and that’s why Mike has my support.”

Bloomberg met with Mayor Davis today in Augusta and toured The Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History. Mayor Davis’ leadership has been recognized by peer mayors across the country. He is President of the African American Mayors Association and serves as a Trustee of the U. S. Conference of Mayors.

Mayor Victoria Woodards of Tacoma, Washington: “I proudly endorse Mike Bloomberg based on his experience leading America’s largest city and his commitment to strengthening our nation and all its communities. That’s the kind of leader our country needs more than ever.”

Woodards has demonstrated a lifelong track record of public service. She served as president of the Tacoma Urban League and as director of community development for the Tacoma Rainiers. Her past civic engagement work has also included leadership positions with the Tacoma Metropolitan Parks Board, the Washington State History Museum, and the Washington State Commission of African American Affairs.

Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson of Gary, Indiana: “I am pleased to add my voice to the people who understand how good Mike Bloomberg’s leadership would be for our country. His experience in business and government and practical approach to problem-solving has been immensely helpful in communities like Gary and would translate well in cities, towns and villages across the country. Mike’s track record of addressing economic development, gun violence, climate change and public health has benefited many Americans and make him a logical choice for President.”

Freeman-Wilson has served as the mayor of her hometown Gary, Indiana, since 2012 when she became the first woman to lead the city of Gary and the first African-American woman mayor in the state of Indiana. Prior to her role as mayor, Freeman-Wilson served as the Indiana Attorney General, the Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission and the presiding judge of the Gary City Court. Freeman-Wilson just completed her term as the President of the National League of Cities.

Mayor Steve Williams of Huntington, West Virginia: “I have experienced first hand and the residents of my city have witnessed directly the effect of the leadership of Mayor Bloomberg. We have been able to implement innovative solutions to improve the quality of life of our citizens because of Mayor Bloomberg’s support and guidance. I have been proud to work with the Mayor and his organization to set standards that the rest of the nation will be able to emulate.”

Williams’ career in public service began with leading the city’s economic development department, and not long after, he was named the youngest city manager in Huntington’s history. He has also served in the West Virginia House of Delegates, where he spent much of his time working to reform the higher education and medical education systems in West Virginia.

Colorado State Representative Tom Sullivan Endorses Mike Bloomberg for President Citing Bloomberg’s Action on Addressing Gun Violence

AURORA, CO — Colorado State Representative Tom Sullivan today announced his support of Democratic Presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg praising Bloomberg’s track record on gun violence prevention. In a statement, Sullivan said:

“This issue of gun safety is not just political, it’s deeply personal for me and my family, as we work tirelessly to honor the memory of our son and other communities ravaged by gun violence. Mike Bloomberg is not just talking about the issue, he’s created a serious plan to address it. I am supporting Mike as someone who has never been afraid to take on the gun lobby and make this issue a top priority. He is exactly what this country needs right now.”

Sullivan and Bloomberg gathered today for an intimate discussion with survivors of gun violence at Heritage Christian Center. The murder of State Representative Sullivan’s son in the 2012 Aurora theater shooting propelled Sullivan to enter government, first as a voice in testimonies to shape bills and then as an elected official to make legislation. Sullivan serves alongside other members of the legislature who have been touched by gun violence including those impacted by the 1999 Columbine shooting.

Today, Bloomberg also announced pillars of his policy on gun safety shaped by his experience as a leading advocate for gun violence prevention for more than a decade. As Mayor of New York City, Bloomberg co-founded a national coalition of Mayors Against Illegal Guns in 2006 to push for stronger local, state, and federal gun safety laws, a coalition that grew to 1,000 mayors. He merged Mayors Against Illegal Guns with the grassroots group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and, in 2014, helped found Everytown for Gun Safety—which has six million supporters today.
