America needs a real Democrat in the White House. The Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy kind.

Paul Simon.

PAUL SIMON.
Standing up for the ordinary American.

There are people in the Democratic Party who believe we must abandon our heritage so we can be more acceptable to the wealthy and the powerful. Paul Simon rejects that belief.

When Congress voted for tax cuts for the rich, Paul Simon voted no. Every time.
Paul Simon hasn't tried to do what's politically fashionable. He does what's right for us—the working men and women of America.

Our senior citizens deserve the best

After a lifetime of hard work, our parents and grandparents shouldn't have to worry about losing their life savings—and their independence—to pay for the long-term care Medicare doesn't cover.

American families shouldn't have to face crushing debts simply because they want their parents to live out their lives in dignity—even when they need long-term care at home or in a nursing home.

Paul Simon is fighting to expand Medicare to give American families the comfort of mind that comes with knowing your parents are protected.

''I'm proud of the Democratic tradition of Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and John Kennedy in fighting for working and retired families. We must build America 's future on that tradition."

Paul Simon. A fighting Democrat for President.

A Simon administration won't export arms to Iran. Nor jobs to Japan
.

Paul Simon started fighting in Congress for tough laws against job-destroying subsidized foreign imports long before trade was a popular issue. We need a fighter in the White House to rebuild America's industrial base.
Simon believes it makes a lot more sense to pay people for doing something instead of paying them to do nothing. That's why he's proposed a detailed plan that guarantees a job opportunity for every American.

Education should be America 's # 1 priority. For the sake of our children...America 's future.

In his 32 years in public office, Paul Simon's # 1 priority has been education. A former teacher, Paul has put more education legislation into law than all the other presidential candidates combined. Education will continue to be a top priority in a Simon Administration.
That's why the National Education Association ranks Paul #1 of all the presidential candidates with congressional service in supporting the education issues that are vital to America.
Paul knows that insuring a bright future for our children also means aggressively addressing the major threat to our children—the problems of drug and alcohol abuse—not simply talking about them.

It's time to stop testing nuclear weapons. And start testing the dream of peace.

Living free takes strength ... and courage. Paul Simon knows that from his service with the Army overseas.
But he also knows that relying on mountains of nuclear weapons and spending over a trillion dollars for Star Wars only escalates the arms race and endangers our future.
Paul Simon believes we should take steps toward peace and survival, not away from them.

America's family farms are our greatest agricultural resource.

Paul Simon believes farmers and rural communities can prosper ... with an agricultural policy as creative and productive as the American farm family. His family address is Rural Route 1, Makanda, Illinois (pop. 400). Paul Simon's roots are rural.
We need someone steering our government who understands and cares about rural America. Who believes we need to build our family farms up, not tear them down. That's Paul Simon—the only candidate from a rural area.

Paul Simon has fought for working families, senior citizens, and family farmers all his life.

One of only two Democratic challengers to unseat a Republican Senator in the 1984 Reagan landslide, Paul Simon is continuing a career of fighting for ordinary Americans that began in Troy, Illinois in the 1940's.
First elected to the Illinois State Legislature in 1954 at the age of 25, Paul was named "Best Legislator" every term he served. After serving as Illinois Lieutenant Governor, Paul taught history and government at Sangamon State University, Springfield, Illinois.
Paul and his wife, Jeanne, an attorney and former state legislator, have two children, Sheila, 26, and Martin, 23.

Count me in, Paul. We need a President like you, fighting for working families, senior citizens, and family farms.
