President Ford.

We can depend on him.

Because President Ford has proven himself dependable.

President Ford is a man whose personal integrity and basic honesty are recognized by Americans of every political persuasion. He has conducted an open and candid
Administration, and in so doing has restored our trust in the credibility of our government.

As President he has kept America at peace, while standing by our allies.

And he has cut the inflation rate in half, while strengthening our economy and guiding it back to prosperity.

Hard work, perseverence, strong intellect.

These have been the trademarks of his life at the University of Michigan (where he was voted President of his senior class) and Yale Law School.

Cool, thoughtful, common sense thinking on the key issues of the day.

Over the last 28 years, he has demonstrated his capacity for such thinking ... as a Congressman, Vice President and President. This has been particularly true in the all-important area of foreign affairs. He has earned a reputation for dependability and clear thinking. Such demonstrated dependability gives all the more meaning to his
words when he speaks out on these crucial issues...

Israel

''There will be no imposed solutions, but agreements whose terms are
hammered out between the parties."

''There will be no one-sided concessions.''

"We will proceed as we have in the closest constant consultations with Israel."

"I am proud to stand on my consistent 28-year record of support for Israel. You know where I stand.''

''The funds I proposed for Israel in my first two budgets totaled over $4 billion for 27 months. These figures speak more eloquently than words."

U.S. AID TO ISRAEL
(Shown in Millions of Dollars)
Performance Not Promises

In just two years, President Ford will have provided Israel with 40% of all aid it has ever received from the United States.

Zionism and the UN

"I tell you now that we will fight any measure that condemns Zionism as racism or that attempts to deny Israel her full rights of membership in the United Nations."

Terrorism

"A free people must never capitulate to terrorism ... Certainty of punishment prevents crime. I very strongly urge international action to stamp out terrorism wherever it may occur.''

"The Entebbe raid on July 4 was a magnificent display of heroism and dedication really unmatched in recent history throughout the world."

Soviet Jewry

"I will continue to seek further progress on the issue of emigration from the Soviet Union. I raised it personally with General Secretary Brezhnev. I have discussed it on many occasions with my former colleagues in the House and in the Senate with the determination to restore the prior rate of emigration.''

Quotas

"I am opposed to numerical quotas. I believe in merit.''

Arab Boycott

''I opposed Arab boycott practices when I was in Congress ... As President, I have taken the strongest executive action in American history against economic practices that discriminate against American citizens.''

Jimmy Carter worries us.

Jimmy Carter says: "Without endangering the defense of our
nation or commitments to our allies, we can reduce present defense expenditures by about $5 to $7 billion annually.'' We ponder the impact of such a cut on our military capabilities in the Mideast...and we worry. (May, 1976)

Jimmy Carter says: "The Geneva Conference might possibly be reconvened in the fture ... the major possibility is participation by the Palestinians, which Israel objects to very strongly. I think the Arab countries ought to make that a requisite. Also, the Soviet Union ought to be a party to the conference. We reflect on that statement... and we worry. (July, 1976)

Jimmy Carter says: "I think ultimately a final solution may very well entail withdrawal of Israel basically to the 1967 boundaries. '' We reflect on that statement...and we worry. (June, 1976)

"The U.S. government supports Israel in the international arena, in the supply of arms and in economic aid almost with no precedence. The margin between what we want and what we get is very small. "

Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin
Rabbinical Council of America
August, 1976

"A review of President Gerald Ford's record in Congress offers strong assurance that the United States will continue to be deeply concerned about lsrael's security and the search for an Arab-Israel peace ...

"The best reassurance is the consensus on Ford's character, revealed over the years. He is an honest man who has always spoken frankly and who is unlikely to yield to political and diplomatic convenience. "
