Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival ... 1 of 4 >
June 23, 2018 - The Poor People's Campaign held a "Stand Against Poverty Mass Rally & Moral Revival" on the National Mall, followed by a march on the Capitol.  The event comes after 40 days of action and marks the start of the next phase of the campaign, which seeks to revive the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s campaign of 50 years ago.  Seeking to counter the "war on the poor," organizers are targeting "systemic racism, systemic poverty, ecological devastation, the war economy/militarism, and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism."  Leading the effort are Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis.
