Jan. 25, 2018 - Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, chair of the USCM Latino Alliance, along with Providence (RI) Mayor Jorge Elorza and Anaheim (CA) Mayor Tom Tait, co-chairs of the Immigration Reform Task Force, moderated a discussion on "Immigration: Responding to Current Challenges."  Avideh Moussavian, senior policy attorney at the National Immigration Law Center, provided an update on the DREAM Act, DREAMer Tony Choi spoke, Brian Haussmann, partner at Taber, DeVito & Rothstein, provided a legal overview, and Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson (Gary, IN) and Mayor Steve Adler (Austin, TX) spoke of their interactions with state and federal authorities.
"We should have a welcoming policy toward immigration," said Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza.
Moussavian noted that 122 people per day are losing DACA status.  She said of the White House that it is unclear "how the decisions are being made and who's making the decisions."
