Secretary of StateBallots cast: 612,536. Plurality: 130,580 votes (21.58 percentage points). Notes: Both parties saw competitive primaries on May 15. The Republican race was particularly competitive. Lt. Gov. Brad Little defeated U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador and developer Tommy Ahlquist by 37.3% to 32.6% and 26.2%. For Democrats, state Rep. Paulette Jordan, a member of the Coeur d'Alene tribe, defeated A.J. Balukoff, who was the 2014 Democratic nominee for governor, by 58.4% to 40.1%. Jordan's campaign experienced a shake-up when campaign manager Mike Rosenow and two other top staffers resigned on Sept. 14. The two candidates met for a conversation on Oct. 2 at the College of Idaho (>), debated on Oct. 13 organized by CBS 2/670 KBOI at Riverside Hotel in Boise (1, 2), and debated on Oct. 15 in Idaho Public Television studios (>). Major issues included education and Medicare expansion; Idaho voters passed Proposition 2, to expand Medicaid, by 60.6% to 39.4%.
