Phillip Thompson is a veteran Democratic strategist with political campaign experience that spans 14 states. Last cycle he recruited and launched Andrew Gillum in the Florida governor’s race, before consulting for ten winning Democratic campaign efforts, including Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small’s red to blue victory in NM-02 and Congresswoman Susie Lee’s red to blue victory in NV-03. Senior Policy Advisor  Brett di Resta

A native of Staten Island, New York, Brett Di Resta has been providing research and communications advice to candidates, campaigns and organizations for over 25 years.  After his stint as Sen. Schumer’s Research Director in 1998, Di Resta started his own consulting firm, working with statewide candidates like Jennifer Granholm, Tim Kaine, Ed Markey and Bill Nelson, along with new House members such as Mikie Sherrill, Anthony Brindisi and Xochitl Torres Small.  When he’s not helping campaigns or teaching as an adjunct professor at George Washington and the University of San Francisco, he’s almost certainly coaching Little League.


Foreign Policy Advisor  Joel Rubin

Joel Rubin is a national security expert and frequent media commentator on foreign affairs, having served in the Obama Administration as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs. A former Peace Corps Volunteer, Joel has more than two decades of national security experience, including as a leading progressive foreign policy activist on Middle East and nuclear weapons issues at both J Street and Ploughshares Fund; as a senior national security advisor on Capitol Hill; and as a career professional at the State Department, Energy Department, and U.S. Agency for International Development. Joel teaches graduate level public policy at Carnegie Mellon University, is a partner at Democracy Partners, and is also a Town Councilman in Chevy Chase, Maryland, where he lives with his wife, three daughters, mother-in-law, and rescue dog Maddy.

Domestic Policy Advisor Betsy Mullins

Betsy Mullins is a campaign strategist with more than 25 years experience in public policy development and analysis, political campaigns, project management, communications and government affairs. Mullins was President and CEO of Women’s Campaign Fund and previously worked for seniors Democrats in the House and Senate as well as national campaign committees. Mullins earned a bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics.

Elizabeth Lewis is a seasoned campaign communications operative with nearly a decade of Democratic campaign experience. She worked for the Democratic National Campaign Committee in 2012 and 2016, national advance staff for Obama 2012 and Director of Media Logistics for Bernie Sanders 2016. Between campaigns Lewis supported Vice President Joe Biden as Advance Staff and in various media logistic capacities. Most recently she was the Communications Director for the gubernatorial race in Texas.

A Los Angeles native, Angelica Urquijo is a seasoned, bilingual public affairs professional who understands the unique needs of diverse ethnic communities across the United States and has led communications strategy for organizations ranging from the United Teachers of Los Angeles to the University of Southern California. She spent 10 years in front of the camera as a reporter and news anchor for Fox affiliates in California and Nevada. Angelica serves on the board of directors for the Public Relations Society of America, LA Chapter, USC San Gabriel Valley Alumni Club and the National Latina Business Women Association-LA Chapter.
